Jazz I Entertains at Ellington: Congrats to Jazz I for their inspired and energetic performance last weekend at the Essentially Ellington Festival and Competition! From the surprise violin intro on "Night in Tunisia," to the emotional "Prelude to a Kiss," and the swinging sounds of the "Harlem Congo," our musicians represented Ballard well on the national stage. Recognition for their efforts included:
Outstanding Trumpet Section - Lucas, Owen, Joe, Evan F
Outstanding Trombone Section - Alli, Jane, Parker
Outstanding Alto Sax Solo - Katie Webster
Outstanding Violin Solo - Evan Snoey
Honorable Mention Trumpet Solo - Joe Fotheringham

Mr. James also received recognition as an Outstanding Band Director in honor of BHS being one of only 15 finalists nationwide.

Photos from the trip may be found in the BPA Flickr Album and a video of their performance is on the BPA Vimeo Channel.

Thank you to all of our sponsors, families, friends and everyone who participated in our fundraisers to make this trip possible for every member of the band. Thank you to our wonderful parent chaperones Sharon, Jeff and Steve for keeping our kids safe and on schedule during their adventures.
Thank you to everyone who watched them perform live in NYC and to those that tuned in online. Your support of BPA is greatly appreciated.

Band Auditions: With our rapidly growing program, we are excited to announce the addition of a third band next year!  All band members will audition for placement in one of the three bands, Concert, Symphonic or Wind Ensemble, on dates to be determined. Audition materials will be distributed in class or are available from Mr. James. Grab your packet now!

The coordinator is supported by a team of volunteers during fittings, alterations, uniform distribution and returns. You can even grab a friend and volunteer together. The main time commitments are from mid-August through the end of football season, with one performance in February and the Ballard Parade in May. Please contact Jen Witeck for more information.
