Safeguarding the Rights of Others

Dignity is a word we don't hear very much in our day-to-day conversations, but it's an important word. It has its roots in a Latin word which means worthy. All human beings are worthy of certain dignities and rights, such as the right to equal justice, free speech, and religious tolerance. Our Bill of Rights protects these types of freedoms.

A famous Lebanese poet, Kahil Gibran, once said, "Safeguarding the rights of others is the most noble and beautiful end of a human being."

Everyday we enjoy human rights denied to millions around the world; freedoms that have been safeguarded for our children by generations of brave souls who have come before us.

Today, stop to consider these important questions: Do we safeguard the rights of others by treating all people with respect, fairness, and tolerance? And what are we doing to safeguard the rights of others?

Thank you parents for teaching these very dispositions to our most prized treasures...our children.

Sincerely,
Daniel P. Weishar

CAREER AND INDUSTRY
In an effort to help  students ACHIEVE , Alpine School District educators, including AFCTE educators, are asked to collaborate with their school or district assigned teams every Monday during collaboration time. The belief is that a Professional Learning Community (PLC) can support  student learning through collaboration , continuous improvement, data analysis, collective questioning, and responsive action. Our PLC teams are asked to gather classroom data, analyzing the data  to help each student improve in their learning  through improving our teaching. Our American Fork High School educators, including AFCTE educators, with support from both Alpine School District CTE and American Fork High School, had the opportunity to attend a recent conference in Salt Lake City designed to enhance how teachers collaborate for the explicit purpose of  enhancing student learning . Collaboration improves teacher instruction, professional development, and enhances the education that leads to graduation and life readiness.

Below Photo: Striving to improve our teaching and our student's learning, our AFTCE Educators attended a professional development conference for Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) recently in Salt Lake City.
