33rd Annual Spring Show
The Artists of Joshua Creek Studio

May 10 - June 22
Opening Tea Party: May 11, 2pm-5pm

Each year Joshua Creek invites the talented students of Joshua Creek Studio to share their art and heart of creating by exhibiting in the JCHAC Spring Show.

Twenty years ago a new medium using nontoxic watercolor printmaking was invented at Joshua Creek. Since its inception it has been refined and the technique expanded upon. Artists invent, explore and experiment with wet colour on a rigid surface. Rolling the plate through the press and printing images is only the beginning. The ensuing masterpieces evolve and become treasured pieces of art.

Extraordinary art is created in the dynamic, innovative and inspiring environment of the Studio. We share it with you in our exhibition.

JCHAC Legacy

Growing up in Oakville and Joshua Creek

Memories - My Mother and Joshua Creek

In childhood she was an outdoor child and perhaps this is why we were encouraged to spend days outside. In the winter we would go through many changes of clothes, usually with socks pinned over our sleeves for mittens. We were never inside unless we needed to be. We had an assortment of ancient skates, old toboggans, impossible horses, litters of pups, nests of kittens and even guinea fowls to coax down from the fir trees. We had a cutter and a sleigh, cows to milk, chickens to feed. It was a noisy chaotic household with huge numbers sitting around the table for dinner, "just lay another place." Somehow it was a very free existence for she applied common sense and kindness, selflessness and rightness to everything around her. We grew up thinking this was the norm...It wasn't. It was extraordinary, and we were blessed by having this woman as our mother.

Gallery

We are presently taking proposals for future exhibitions in the Art Gallery. JCHAC Gallery is the home to ten shows each year with each exhibition running for one month to six weeks. The focus of the Gallery is to be a venue for emerging artists. Should a showing by a single artist seem daunting consider an exhibition of a collective of three or four artists.

We look forward to hearing from you and discussing opportunities. Please contact Bill Hewitt by e-mail or call 905-257-4730.

Winterfest 2014

I am thrilled to announce that Winterfest 2014 was a spectacular success!!! All expectations were exceeded from attendance to support and to the funds raised for Joshua Creek Heritage Arts Centre.

Many thanks extended to all that attended in support of JCHAC whether as a guest, volunteer, or contributor. Children and adults alike skated on the pond, tobogganed down slopes, created unique art projects, and listened to a variety of entertainers. The Gallery and grounds were alive with excitement.

Many newcomers to JCHAC have promised to return on a regular basis to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of JCHAC.
