Seminar: August 18

We will be having a new seminar titled: "Homosexuality: Responding with Biblical Truth & Compassion" on Saturday August 18th in Cleveland, TN. The seminar will be hosted by Candies Creek Baptist Church & Friends for Freedom. Read more about Friends for Freedom below in this newsletter.

If you are interested in participating in this seminar then I encourage you to sign up. You can visit our ministry website to register. Our address is: www.josephscoatministries.com. We've always had great turnouts for our seminars so don't hesitate to go to our website and register to ensure seating.

How can you help? Consider requesting one of our seminar flyers to hang on your office or school bulletin board or you may go to our website to the Seminar page and download the page, print it off and distribute it. Also, pray for us as we prepare for this seminar. Pray for the ministry, its leaders as well as the host church and their leaders. This seminar is a joint effort and it cannot happen without the support of others. We desire to educate others and proclaim Christ's freedom to those in bondage to sin.

"Deceptive Trends" by Chris
Many substantial occurrences have been taking place in our country recently that will have a significant impact on every American and these are the progressive recognition of same-sex marriage and the endorsement of the homosexual lifestyle in general. So far, same-sex marriage is not recognized by the federal government but such marriages are recognized by 9 states. On September 20, 2011, the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell was deemed unconstitutional and the law was struck down. By this law being struck down, gays are now allowed to serve openly in the U.S. military. Finally, on May 9, 2012: President Barack Obama becomes the first sitting U.S. president to declare his support for legalizing same-sex marriage.

Not only is our country becoming more diluted with sin (this includes the acceptance of homosexuality) but the church too. There's a deep deception that has entered churches (for a while now) that lies to each individual that living an unrighteous life is acceptable to God and even moral. Not only am I speaking of homosexuality but other sinful lifestyles as well - lifestyles such as adultery, fornication, pornography, drugs and yes, homosexuality. Homosexuality is an ungodly lifestyle. There is NOTHING about the gay life that is holy and right with God.

One terribly disturbing trend that's occurring in the church is this idea of being a "gay Christian." To be an openly gay person and a fruitful Christian at the same time is a total lie against God's Word.  For someone to believe they can live an "active gay lifestyle" and it is blessed and even sanctioned by God is seriously deceiving themselves. Nowhere in God's Word does He tell us that He blesses sin. Believing this is the devil's theology, not God's. We need to continue praying for our family members and friends who have aligned themselves with the false theology of being a gay Christian. God commands all His people to be a holy people. First Peter 1:16 states, "...be holy, because I am holy." If you have personally been involved in the homosexual lifestyle then you know that the gay life holds nothing of His holiness. A matter of fact, homosexuality is one of many perversions in the Bible. Leviticus 18:22 states, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." Many want to discount the Old Testament because it was written under the law and before the time of God's grace. However, we are to use both the Old and New Testament in order that we may live a life that is approved of God. Second Timothy 2:15 tells us to "study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." None of us can be "holy" if it wasn't for the blood of Jesus Christ that He shed on the cross. We are made right in God's sight because of what His Son accomplished at Calvary. Our righteousness is like filthy rags (Isaiah 64:6). So, without the righteousness of Christ none of us could walk in holiness. Let us continue praying for those we love and our country; the Lord promises us that "if my people, which are called by my people, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Sincerely,
Chris Delaney

We Need Your Financial Support

Dear fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. In order for Joseph's Coat to continue spreading its message of freedom from unwanted same-sex attraction, we need your financial support. We are unable to carry out His commission if we are not financially supported by the Body of Christ; which is the worldwide church.

Please pray about what He would have you do in the area of supporting our work financially. Perhaps He will direct you to give a one-time donation or become a monthly supporter of our work. However He directs you in your giving, it will be a great blessing to us. Acts 20:35 states, "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'" Giving sets us free. Giving changes the lives of others (John 3:16). Giving brings blessings back to us (Luke 6:38). Giving allows us to store up treasures in Heaven rather than here on earth (Matthew 19:21). Please ask the Lord what He would have you to do today. Thank you.donate now
Friends for Freedom
FFF
Friends for Freedom (FFF) is "offering the Grace and Love of Jesus Christ as the source of freedom for those who experience unwanted same-sex attraction as well as encouraging and equipping their families and loved ones to remain strong in Biblical truth and compassion." (FFF Mission Statement)

FFF was started by a Candies Creek Baptist Church couple (in Cleveland, TN) that was unable to find local resources or support when they discovered their child was living the homosexual lifestyle. FFF offers the families and friends of those who live the homosexual lifestyle a confidential support group and resources to equip them to respond with unconditional love and biblical truth. For the individuals that struggle with SSA [same-sex attraction] we offer confidential lay-counseling, accountability, resources, referrals and most of all God's Grace that can set any person free from homosexual temptations. A longtime Chattanooga area Christian outreach, Joseph's Coat Ministries, has agreed to mentor and partner with FFF.

FFF recognizes they are taking an unpopular stand given the secular world's headlines of today asking us to ignore the authority of the Bible. The Bible clearly teaches that homosexuality is sinful behavior; however, the intent of the ministry is not to hate or bully, but be compassionate as we offer the uncompromising truth of GOD's Word. As God commands us we love everyone. We are not against just this sin, but we hate all sin. We believe it is time for Christians to take a stand and not absorb the world's moral flaws into the Church just because we feel pressure from man.

Fundraiser: eBay

Do you have an item you would like to donate to Joseph's Coat? If you have an item that is in good shape and you don't have a need for it, then consider donating it to Joseph's Coat Ministries.

We would like to list those donated items on eBay. The monies collected from donated items would go toward the work of Joseph's Coat Ministries. Listing items on eBay in order to raise money for the ministry would be like having a yard sale or a fundraiser for the ministry.

Please reply to this email with a description of the item you'd like to donate and a suggested price.

Prayer List
We request ongoing prayer for the following:

  • Ministry clients' emotional healing so that they may walk in freedom from unwanted same-sex attraction.
  • Ministry finances. Pray that God will open the windows of heaven and pour out blessings upon our ministry.
  • More seminars. We need area churches to partner with Joseph's Coat to host our seminars at their churches. We strongly believe that a role for Joseph's Coat is to come alongside churches to help them through education in their ministry to men and women with unwanted same-sex attraction.
  • More speaking opportunities. To do more speaking is one of Chris' desires. Pray for opportunities to speak on television, newspapers, radio as well as churches. Chris shares his testimony as well as helps to educate the church in its ministry to those struggling with unwanted same-sex attraction. We consider this to be part of our evangelism outreach.
Thank you for taking time to read our newsletter! May God bless you and yours abundantly.
