Join Us In Saying Farewell to Brenda

It is with sadness and joy we send Brenda Follensbee to a new position working for the City of Lake Geneva. She has served Immanuel for 4 1/2 years, talking with many of you and helping you get what you need or want. We are happy for her, but she will also be greatly missed in the office. She will be with us through the end of the year. Wish her well when you see her.

A big Thank You to Wendy Russell for bridging the period of transition when Brenda leaves and we hire a new administrative assistant.

Church Administrative Assistant Position

The Council is rapidly working to find the right replacement for Brenda as Administrative Assistant. If you are interested or know someone who is interested, please go to the Indeed web site and apply. All applications will be reviewed and interviews will be held by the Council. May God send wisdom to all involved in this search for the right person for Immanuel.

Steinway Piano Up-Date

We are pleased to report that the congregational vote to purchase the Steinway Grand Piano has passed and we are excited to see how this beautiful piano will bless our church. Thank you, Immanuel, for your amazing generosity! We appreciate those who have already completed your donation. If you haven't fulfilled your pledge yet, please drop your check off at church by December 25th.

Vocalists and instrumentalists are encouraged to share their God given talents as musical offerings. Please contact John Ivan at music@immanuellg.org to schedule a time to share your unique gifts at Immanuel!

Prayer Requests

We appreciate all of your prayer requests each week! We want to continue praying for all individuals because we know how powerful prayer is in the lives of so many. It has been a struggle to keep the list up to date, so we have come up with a plan to keep the list current from month to month. On the first of the new month, we will restart the prayer list. If someone needs to stay on the list, just let Wendy know by using the worship card found in the weekly bulletin, calling the church office (262.248.4211), emailing Wendy at secretary@immanuellg.org, or dropping off a note in the church office. We want your requests, so we can continue praying for those in need. Contact Wendy if you have any questions.

MISSION

Free Christmas Meal at Immanuel

Join us on Sunday, December 25th from 4-7pm for a Free Christmas Meal at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Whether you are looking for a hot meal or holiday fellowship, we would love to have you! Also, we are looking for volunteers to help or donate fruits, vegetables or drinks. If you are interested, please contact Ashley Miu at 262-325-4443.

Ryan Johnson Fundraiser

We have received word from Ryan's aunt, Jackie Sieber that their family is doing a fundraiser in Ryan's name for "Red Strong Foundation."  The 2nd Annual 9 Pin Bowling benefit will be held on Saturday, January 14th. If anyone from Immanuel would like to make a donation or donate an item for silent auction, they should contact Jackie Sieber at jacqueline.sieber@aurora.org.

The Treehouse

The Tree House is also in need of ongoing supplies...these include certain snacks, toys, books, "lovie" blankets, etc. Children's Hospital requires that all toys, books, etc be new.   Check out the website for more information on the WCAC and how you can be of assistance: www.wcac4kids.org .
If you, your family or members of a small group or other ministry group would like to join in bringing joy to these children and families, please contact Evie Schulz for further information. You will be blessed for being a blessing.

Snacks are needed on an ongoing basis.  Often times children arrive hungry, thirsty and haven't eaten in a while or may be at The Tree House for several hours.  Items such a individually sealed crackers, juice boxes, bottled water, packaged fruit snacks or other healthy packaged, non-perishable food items would be greatly appreciated.  There will be a box with WCAC sign on it in the Gathering Space next to a Poster regarding The WCAC/Tree House.  Please note that the advocacy center is a division of Children's Hospital of Milwaukee.

Upon completing the forensic interview, physical exam and/or counseling session, all children are offered a small toy or game.  These items must be new in accordance with Children's Hospital rules.  Examples would be board games, action figures, dolls, books, crafts or activities, sports items, stuffed animals, hot wheels, toy trucks.  The cost for these items range between $5-$10.  Anyone who would like to shop for these items are welcome to put them in the box in the Gathering Space.  These items should not be wrapped.  Another option is to make a monetary contribution.  Checks should be written to the WCAC and sent to W4063 Hwy NN, Elkhorn 53121.  Indicate on the memo line that your donation is for "snacks" or "toys".  You will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
Check out the website:  wcac4kids.org for more information on WCAC/The Tree House and ways you can help.

"Stitchin' for Kids"

The Wednesday morning quilters have a special project in the works.  They will be making fleece blankets for the children who come to The Tree House (Children's Advocacy Center, Elkhorn) due to suspected physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect.  Ages range is anywhere from a couple weeks old to 17 years of age.

This can be a traumatic experience for these precious souls and the Tree House staff has found that if they are able to give them a "lovie" when they arrive, or leave, it helps calm and sooth the children while the process is taking place.

If you would like to help with this worthwhile endeavor, many hands make the project go quickly and is fun besides.  Contact Jackie Kuehl for more information.

Another way to be involved is to give a monetary donation to help offset the cost of each blanket ($20 per blanket). The quilters are always on the lookout for sales and specials, so if they have a cache of money available, they can quickly make even more blankets.  Donations can be placed in an envelope with "Stitching for Kids" on the outside and left with Brenda in the church office.  If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and put "Stitchin' for Kids" on the memo line.

The Wednesday morning quilters plan to have this as an ongoing project.  Last year 300+ children were served at the Tree House...that is a lot of blankets. Thank you for whatever you can do to be of assistance to these children.

+ To Immanuel Lutheran Church - I wanted to send a note of thanks to all who assisted us during the celebration of life for my mom, Geraldine Bivans on November 19th. We were deeply touched by Pastor Rich's message, and the beautiful music provided by John Ivan. Also, the gentleman who set up the slide shows, movies and everyone who helped that day. It was a beautiful service. Thank you again, Marcia Kennelly, Kathy Raasch & Paul Bivans

+ Thank you to the quilters for our two 80 year old quilts. We love them!!!! We appreciate the time and love which went into making our quilts.
Betty & Herman Keisler

+ A big thank you to Susan Hughes for the beautiful quilt I received when I was in the rehabilitation facility. Many thanks to Tina Walton for taking me to my doctor's appointment. Immanuel has been there for me in so many ways through my healing process. Eunice Abresch
