Before you reach for that pesticide, you need to do some research. Is it the right pesticide for the insect you are trying to control? How much do you need to apply? Do you have an alternative to spraying? 

Recently I've noticed ground squirrels causing damage on my property. Can I catch them with a live trap and release them into the wild?

Because ground squirrels carry diseases and are agricultural pests, the California Fish and Game Code specifies that it is illegal to catch and release them elsewhere without a permit.
