(Huntington Beach, CA) - May 13, 2014 - Show Director, Dale Harvey, is always searching for new classes to add to the repertoire of West Palms Events'. Therefore, there has been some anticipation over the last few years surrounding the Grand Prix Hunter Derby Series to see if it will consistently be well received. One could say that, as expected, it has not disappointed! This year the excitement continues to grow, as you can find several qualifying classes where the top 35 qualifiers will compete in the $25,000 Grand Prix Hunter Derby Finals hosted at the Del Mar International World Cup Week CSI-W3* Horse Show, October 22-26, 2014. 

Unlike a traditional Hunter class, the Grand Prix Hunter Derby is judged not only on the performance and suitability of the horse, but is also a race against the clock. Competitors are challenged to set an efficient pace while demonstrating brilliance and handiness.

The next Grand Prix Hunter Derby qualifier for the series will be held at the Huntington Beach Surf Classic, July 3-6, 2014. Current standings leader, Jenny Karazissis said, "A huge thanks goes out to Dale as this is really inventive and fun for the rider and spectator. I'm looking forward to riding at Huntington Beach this year!"
