COVENANT THEOLOGY
A Reformed & Baptistic Perspective on God's Covenants
by Greg Nichols

COMING SOON IN A REDUCED PRICE PAPERBACK

More than 30 years in the making, from Greg Nichols' class notes comes a volume that will help those who are Reformed and Baptistic understand the vital subject of GOD'S COVENANTS from the perspective of those persuaded of Disciple's Baptism. A MUST READ!

"Baptists who embrace their historic Calvinistic and Covenantal roots have long since needed a robust and comprehensive treatment of Covenant Theology that includes the nuanced interpretations of the biblical covenants that a baptistic hermeneutic requires. This treatment by Greg Nichols does just that and more. As a devotee of the Westminster tradition (including its chapter, 'On God's Covenant with Man'), I differ here and there; sometimes significantly so. But there is so much to applaud in this volume and Baptists will do well to read this volume carefully and with much gratitude. A splendid achievement. I, for one, will insist that my Presbyterian students read it." - Derek W. H. Thomas

"There has been an urgent need for Reformed Baptist to produce a work on the covenants. I am so thankful that Greg Nichols has engaged this very weighty work. It is a very timely addition on a vitally important topic and adds much to a growing Reformed Baptist literary body." - James R. White, Alpha and Omega Ministry, author of numerous books, including 'Pulpit Crimes', published by Solid Ground

"Greg Nichols has done a wonderful job of articulating a genuinely reformed and baptistic model of covenant theology. The fruit of decades of study and teaching on his subject, this volume should be read by all who want to understand the proper framework of divine revelation. My counsel to all ministerial students is 'Tolle lege' (take up and read)." - Dr. Robert P. Martin, Emmanuel Reformed Baptist Church, Seattle, WA, Author of "Guide to the Puritans"

WOMEN SPEAKING IN THE CHURCH

What Does the Scripture Say?

 R.L. Dabney

B.B. Warfield

Geoff Thomas

WOMEN SPEAKING IN THE CHURCH
What Does the Scripture Say?
Robert L. Dabney
Benjamin B. Warfield
Geoffrey Thomas

Two classic pieces join together with a contemporary one to address an increasingly thorny issue facing the church. The first piece is a brief article by B.B. Warfield which is an exposition of Paul's words to the Corinthians concerning women speaking in the church.
The second is a much lengthier article by R.L. Dabney examining the issue that was already assaulting the Church in the 19th century.  Finally, the fullest and longest material is drawn from two sermons preached by contemporary, Geoff Thomas, who has served for nearly 50 years in the same church in Aberystwyth, Wales.  These three men approach this subject with one question in mind concerning the role of women in the church:  What Does the Scripture Say?  Today's pragmatic Church will do well to listen.

"When it comes to the late nineteenth century the names R. L. Dabney and B. B. Warfield are in a peculiar class--the foremost class of biblical theologians. Those familiar with their writings will not be surprised that they wrote on such a contemporary topic (then and now) as women and their role in the Church. They were acutely aware of cultural currents and pressures and offered incisive biblical-theological answers. The Church can only benefit from the abiding truths they mined from Holy Scripture. It's good to have their contributions in one volume. Readers beware: you may not like what you read in this little book, but you better not dismiss it!" -- C. N. Willborn, PhD

"This project is a must! Feminism and egalitarianism are insidious errors, striking at the heart of both home and church and probably society as well. Both God's creation ordinance and the character of the the church are affected. Warfield and Dabney deal with these matters biblically and powerfully. I cannot urge you strongly enough to get these two great works into print. You must do this!" - Pastor Don Lindblad

"This volume brings together wonderful insights from two faithful church leaders of an earlier generation with helpful analyses from competent teachers of today. The results is a valuable resource for students, academics, and pastors." - Tom Ascol

"More times than I can count - and personally I find it so frustrating - I have heard Reformed theology defined in such a way that it excludes those who hold to believer's baptism. This valuable work will help set the record straight." - Michael Haykin

"Nehemiah Coxe's work on the covenant is an important piece of writing by a significant seventeenth century Particular Baptist theologian. Its republication is long overdue. This work is an important resource for twenty-first century Reformed Baptists." - Robert Oliver

"Paedobaptists have seldom, if ever, considered the possibility of a covenantal credobaptist position, and many Baptists are simply ignorant of the centrality of the covenant and its usefulness in defending their own beliefs. This book is an attempt to begin to rectify this deficiency." - Jim Renihan

"For various reasons, many reformed Baptists of our time have failed to realize that historic Covenant Theology was fully appreciated and theologically deployed in the very best of the Calvinistic Baptist tradition. Whereas many Baptists today who are reformed have opted for speaking of themselves as some form of dispensationalist (modified or progressive) or have felt drawn to so-called 'New Covenant Theology,' Baptists who embrace the great Reformed distinctives (like Spurgeon did) have seen themselves as covenant theologians. May their tribe increase!" - Ligon Duncan

THE HOLY SPIRIT by Geoff Thomas
The Holy Spirit is often treated as either a dry doctrine for our mouths to recite or raw power to ignite our emotions. Geoff Thomas shows us that the Holy Spirit is both infinitely glorious and intensely personal. Neither a theory nor a force, the Spirit is God and acts as our God in gathering a people to Himself. This book follows the scriptural revelation of the Spirit from Genesis to Pentecost to today, covering such topics as His personality and Deity, His inspiration and anointing in the Old Testament, His conviction and regeneration, the spiritual gifts, putting to death sinful deeds by the Spirit, His sealing, and spiritual revival. It will help believers to know how much the Spirit of God loves them, and will help them to love the Spirit with all their hearts; and with Him, the whole Triune God. It may also help unbelievers to begin to thirst for the living water which they desperately need.

THE HOLY SPIRIT and REFORMED SPIRITUALITY
"Geoffrey Thomas is known and respected far and wide for his love for the doctrines of grace and warm-heartedness as a pastor. I am grateful to have known him over the years and to be invited now to commend this festschrift with its helpful essays illustrating the importance of the Holy Spirit's work in saving sinners, in promoting their holiness and spiritual growth, and in supplying biblical preaching past and present." -Maurice Roberts

"Geoff Thomas is a Reformed statesman; one of the remarkable figures in the modern church who is truly committed to Reformed ecumenicity. For that reason alone, this tribute is appropriate. You will note that men from a number of church backgrounds (both credo-Baptist and paedo-Baptist) have contributed to this birthday present. Those readers who know Geoff have found much pleasure and edification in his company, and all who read these articles will find the same." - Joseph Pipa, president, Greenville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Taylors, South Carolina

The Infinite Merit of Christ
  The Glory of Christ's Obedience
in the Theology of Jonathan Edwards
by Craig Biehl

The Infinite Merit of Christ
The Glory of Christ's Obedience
in the Theology of Jonathan Edwards
by Craig Biehl

EXPECTED IN FEBRUARY!

"Historically, the tendency of scholars to modernize and distance Edwards from his biblicist, exclusivist, evangelical and Reformed tradition has resulted in relatively little attention being given to the importance of the person and redemptive work of Christ in Edwards' Trinitarian thought. The contention of this study is that the foundation, center, and unifying thread of Edwards' thought is the person and work of Christ in accomplishing God's ultimate purpose to display and communicate His glory to unworthy sinners by perfect obedience to God's unchanging rule of righteousness. Edwards' theology cannot be properly understood in abstraction from the person and redemptive work of Christ as revealing and communicating the glorious perfections of the Trinity, nor can revisionist interpretations of Edwards' soteriology as inclusivistic or Catholic be tenable without an overthrow and re-write of the entirety of Edwards' theology. Salvation of a single soul apart from perfect conformity to God's rule of righteousness would render God unrighteous and prohibit the fulfillment of His ultimate purpose to display and communicate His glory. Indeed, God could not be God."

"Among its other strengths this book is helpful in questioning the view that Edwards has compromised the Reformation doctrine of justification with legalistic accents and by basing it in part on the change that takes place within the believer. Biehl's love is as evident as Edwards' for the subject matter he considers in Edwards. A welcome read for anyone wanting to grow in understanding and appreciation of this remarkable thinker."
- Richard Gaffin, Westminster Theological Seminary

"While setting the record straight on Edwards's theology through leaning heavily on his own writings (800 quotes from Edwards!), Biehl's work is also a tour de force for the confirmation of Reformed orthodoxy in the midst of ongoing debates about justification today."
- Joel R. Beeke, Puritan Reformed Theological Seminary

"Craig Biehl's work offers jsut what is needed today - a comprehensive treatment of Edwards' understanding of Christ and His saving work of redemption. Few of the leading Edwards scholars know Reformed theology well, or understand the significance of Edwards' soteriology."  - Doug Sweeney, Trinity Evangelical Divinity School

"Biehl's careful hand skillfully guides us through these writings, even leading us to offer words of praise for what Christ has done for us - a rare and admirable feat for a piece of scholarship."  - Stephen J. Nichols, Lancaster Bible College

HOLDING COMMUNION TOGETHER
The Reformed Baptists
The First Fifty Years, Divided & United

ENDORSEMENTS ARE CONTINUING TO COME IN -
"Anyone who is seriously interested in understanding the modern Reformed Baptist history in America ought to carefully read Tom Chantry and Dave Dykstra's Holding Communion Together. Coming to the Reformed faith after much of what is discussed in this book occurred, I found it immensely helpful in understanding my experiences as I moved into Reformed Baptist circles. It provided answers to many questions about people, events, and attitudes I encountered but for which I had no context to understand. Additionally, we live at a time when Reformed Baptist distinctives are being eroded. Churches which have doctrine, worship, polity, and piety that is foreign to the 1689 London Baptist Confession are laying claim to the moniker, "Reformed Baptist". Holding Communion Togethergoes a long way in setting the record straight on what it means to be a Reformed Baptist. A must read, especially for elders, deacons and those wanting to understand our history." - Doug VanderMeulen, pastor, Community Baptist Church, Fargo, ND

"Pastors Tom Chantry and David Dykstra have written a most important history of Reformed Baptists in the 20th and early 21st centuries...
I pray that the Lord of the churches would give us grace to examine ourselves, repent of the sins we find and become a pure Bride, fit for the Bridegroom. If judgment begins with the household of God, best that we judge ourselves now and avert a much greater calamity on Judgment Day." - Steve Martin, editor of and contributor to BIBLICAL SHEPHERDING OF GOD'S SHEEP: The Use and Abuse of Authority by Church Officers (Day One Publications) and "Training Other Men" in DEAR TIMOTHY (edited by Tom Ascol; Founders Ministry), for twenty two years a confessional Reformed Baptist pastor, now encouraging church planting in Georgia and the Southeast

"Sometimes, when I read the New Testament, I grieve over the problems reported about maintaining doctrinal truth and spiritual unity both in individual churches and in the Apostolic church at large. Frankly, it sounds like the church of today. Somehow, that honest history of the NT comforts me. For Christ has always used earthen vessels to build His church and He will continue to do so until He returns.
For that reason, I think that Chantry/Dykstra have done a good service for us today to recount the recent history of the Reformed Baptist movement in America. Having lived through most of it, and knowing firsthand many of the issues and people involved, I believe that they have accurately recorded the events leading to the formation of ARBCA. Using primary sources as they do silences false accusations on all sides. Younger pastors need to know this history to avoid the same errors while older pastors need to know it to have hope that our Lord will continue to build His church with earthen vessels long after they are gone.
Also, I thank Chantry/Dykstra for giving a short biography of David Straub for those who did not know this choice servant of Christ. I commend the reading of this book to all who wish to know the documented truth about Reformed Baptist history, hoping it will contribute to a real unity founded upon doctrinal truth." --Fred A. Malone, First Baptist Church, Clinton, LA

HOLDING COMMUNION TOGETHER by Tom Chantry and David Dykstra skillfully takes us on a journey which began over 50 years ago as Baptists began to rediscover the glorious doctrines of grace. The cover photo takes us back to a most important gathering of Baptist ministers on June 7, 1966 hosted by Grace Baptist Church, Carlisle, PA. In the book we are informed that the Church in Carlisle invited men from all over the country to attend a Pastor's Conference to discuss beginning the first association of Reformed Baptists. The response was overwhelming. On June 7 more than one hundred men (mostly pastors) gathered for three days of preaching and discussion. The era of Reformed Baptist cooperation had begun.

For nearly half a century the growth of the Reformed Baptist movement has been quite remarkable, but it has not been without controversy. Chantry and Dykstra draw from an incredible amount of documentation as they seek to explain for the first time how we have gotten where we are today. This is a history that must be told, and these men do so for the good of all who love the doctrines of grace. In addition to the 20 chapters that will make up this book, there will be several appendices containing important documents and papers written over the past 50 years.

Tom Chantry writes in his Introduction: "In the mid-1960s only a handful of confessional churches in the mid-Atlantic region were known to one another. Today we number hundreds of congregations across every region of the country. Certainly there is a story here worth telling. Perhaps one reason it is so seldom told is the undeniable splintering of our movement. It is too easy for us to look at one another across various divides and say, 'Yeah, those guys are Reformed Baptists too, but we don't associate with them!' I wonder whether there is a sense of guilt over this state of affairs which makes us worry about telling the stories of how we got here. Are we too concerned about opening old wounds?

At some point the story must be told, or a new generation of Reformed Baptists will be condemned to stumble through the same mistakes as the last. The time for the retelling is certainly now. The first generation of Reformed Baptist pastors is now in retirement. If their history is not told soon, it may never be told at all. Is it not possible with all charity and decorum to say what happened, to suggest reasons why it did, and to propose certain lessons which might be learned? No doubt different men will have different stories to tell, different explanations of what happened, and different lessons to teach. Should that frighten us? I believe not. I believe the time is now, the story is needed, and it is time to begin to talk."

MY HEART IN HIS HANDS: Ann Judson of Burma by Sharon James
In October 1810 a twenty-year-old girl in the quiet New England town of Bradford wrote the following words in her journal: 'If nothing in providence appears to prevent, I must spend my days in a heathen land. I am a creature of God, and he has an undoubted right to do with me, as seems good in his sight... He has my heart in his hands, and when I am called to face danger, to pass through scenes of terror and distress, he can inspire me with fortituder, and enable me to trust in him. Jesus is faithful; his promises are precious. Were it not fo these considerations, I should sink down with despair.
Ann Hasseltine had received a proposal of marriage from Adoniram Judson, who was shortly to leave for Asia as one of America's first overseas missionaries. And thus commenced one of the greatest dramas of church history - a saga of love, courage, suffering and perseverance. In this biography Ann is allowed to speak for herself. Sharon James has skilfully woven together extracts from her Memoir and other first-hand accounts with linking narrative in a way that brings Ann's story alive for today and is a powerful testimony to the love, grace and faithfulness of God.

The Puritan Hard Drive is a tremendous blessing. Imagine not only owning the largest Puritan and Reformed library, but having a full-time team of world-class research assistants at your beck and call. With the click of a button, you can easily do ten hours worth of research in just seconds! In the history of extra-biblical study and research tools there has never before been a resource as useful as the Puritan Hard Drive." - Pastor Paul Washer, Founder and Director of HeartCry Missionary Society

"Still Waters Revival Books has performed an astonishing feat in pulling together a massive collection of books and other resources. Let me tell you how absolutely fantastic the Puritan Hard Drive really is. This is a treasure trove for a local church pastor. The search ability is beyond my expectation. I was just on the island of Iona where Columba established a missionary outpost sending evangelists all over Britain. Searching the hard drive for "Columba" added much to my understanding of this great leader through the eyes of Spurgeon and many others. Thank you so much... for going to the trouble to make this available. I am greatly improved by it and I anticipate the pace of worldwide reformation to be improved as well." - Pastor Scott Brown (M.Div.), Hope Baptist Church (NC, USA), Director of the National Center for Family Integrated Churches (NCFIC), Conference Speaker, Author (Family Reformation: The Legacy of Sola Scriptura in Calvin's Geneva, Building a God Centered Family: A Father's Manual [ed.], an others), etc.
