I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Andrea Hatfield. She is in charge of donor relations and development at the downtown Fort Wayne Rescue Mission. She spends her time interacting with those in need while helping to strengthen relationships in the community to keep donations flowing into the Rescue Mission.

Holly Trolley shopping is a day to explore unique gift shops downtown! Park near your favorite shop or cultural attraction and ride the trolley between locations. Downtown merchants will be holding Saturday hours and offering special deals, November 24, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

You are invited to join Everyone a Neighbor Day and celebrate Thanksgiving, November 22 in the church. Between 11:00am and 3:00pm we will celebrate Thanksgiving Dinner with turkey, mashed potatoes, candied sweet potatoes, cranberry salad, stuffing, green beans, broccoli casserole, rolls and butter, and dessert. We'll have games to play and television for football games: maybe a few songs. Don't sit home by yourself. Join your church friends for good food, fun, and fellowship.

City of Fort Wayne: Commercial Façade Grant program
Businesses looking to improve their curb appeal may be able to get a boost from the City of Fort Wayne's Commercial Façade Grant program. The program was introduced by Mayor Tom Henry five years ago and provides local businesses the opportunity to apply for matching grants to improve the exterior of their buildings. Mayor Henry said, "When businesses improve their buildings, it sends a strong message that the surrounding neighborhood is vibrant and a good place for other businesses to invest." Applications for the grants will be accepted from November 12 through December 14, 2012.
