IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Michael Coleman was born and raised in Rocky Mount, NC, where he graduated from Northern Nash High School in 2001. After high school, he immediately chose to further his education by enrolling at Nash Community College. Coleman graduated in May of 2004, and began his career as a draftsman at E.G. Smithson and Associates in Rocky Mount. Since 2007 Mr. Coleman has taught night and online classes in the Architectural Technologies department at Nash. In 2010 he changed his career path and became a guidance counselor at Faith Christian High School. The next year, Michael was hired full-time at Nash Community College as a counselor in Student and Enrollment Services, where he was part of many new initiatives, while leading state-wide committees on career counseling and innovative concepts for student services. He most recently served as NCC's Associate Vice President of Student and Enrollment Services.

Michael also earned Bachelors and Masters in Business Administration and Leadership from Liberty University. He is currently completing his Doctorate in Business Administration and Leadership through Liberty University.

In the community Coleman has served in many capacities, including President of the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, board member for Peacemakers, and as an elected official on the Nashville Town Council.

At the end of August, Michael left his post at Nash Community College to take on an executive position at Haywood Community College, in Clyde, NC. He serves HCC on the President's executive team as the Vice President of Student Services. This opportunity is one that Coleman felt divinely called to do, while noting how extremely difficult it would be to leave his NCC family. However, he said Blue Love will always remain at the core of his heart, and he will never forget the opportunities he was blessed with because of the support Nash gave. We wish Mr. Coleman the best of luck in his new position. He will be greatly missed at Nash Community College.

RETIREMENT ANNOUNCEMENT
After 29 years of service, William O'Boyle has retired. Mr. O'Boyle has been an asset to NCC's English department since 1988. Students remember his passion for English and generous use of red ink when correcting their assignments.  Mr. O'Boyle has made a lasting impact on students by challenging them to always exceed expectations. Although this rest is well deserved, he will be greatly missed by all!
