National Awards to Honor the Best in Affordable Rental Housing Development
The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition and the National Affordable Housing Management Association have announced details and entry deadlines for their respective awards programs honoring the best in affordable rental housing development.
22nd Annual Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Awards

The Affordable Housing Tax Credit Coalition (AHTCC) is accepting entries and nominations for the 22nd Annual Charles L. Edson Tax Credit Excellence Awards. Each winner and honorable mention will be recognized at an awards ceremony in Washington, DC in June. Projects placed in service on or after January 1, 2013, are eligible. 

Entries may be made in the following categories:
  • Developments located in a metropolitan area
  • Developments located in a rural area
  • Special Needs Housing
  • Senior Housing
  • Green Housing
  • HUD Preservation properties
  • Public Housing

2016 Affordable Housing Vanguard Award

The National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA) 2016 Affordable Housing Vanguard Award celebrates success in the multifamily affordable housing industry by recognizing and benchmarking newly developed or significantly rehabbed affordable multifamily housing communities that showcase high quality design and resourceful financing.

Entries may be made in the following categories:
  • New Construction (two subcategories: over 100 units and under 100 units)
  • Major Rehabilitation of an Existing Rental Housing Community
  • Major Rehabilitation of a Non-Housing Structure into Affordable Rental Housing
  • Major Rehabilitation of a Historic Structure into Affordable Rental Housing
Affordable multifamily housing communities that are less than three years old (as of April 4, 2016) may apply (based on date of completion of new construction or completion of major rehab). 

Please note:  A management company may submit only one entry for each category. Affordable is defined as a property participating in a government funded, insured or otherwise sponsored program that results in rents that are below market-rate housing.

Winners of the Affordable Housing Vanguard Awards will be recognized at an awards ceremony at the NAHMA Summer Meeting in June in San Francisco.
