NRC construction update, plus staying hydrated during hot summer months
From Ande Masoncup, Asst. Superintendent of Rec

We are now in the second month of the NRC renovation/construction project, and are on schedule for a tentative completion date at the end of October. I understand the inconvenience this has caused you and I am willing to work with you through the renovation/construction process. Myself and the NRC team appreciate your patience and understanding. We hope that you are just as excited as we are for the change ahead and the opportunities that it will bring.

Hopefully, everyone has been enjoying the summer while managing your fitness routine. We are currently in the hottest part of the summer and staying hydrated is key to maintaining good health. Whether you are exercising inside or outside, you must drink water before, during and after exercise to stay properly hydrated. The amounts vary depending on several factors. Here is the average amount:

Before: 17-20 oz. of water at least 2 hours prior to exercise
During: 7-10 oz. of water for every 10-20 minutes of exercise
After: 16-24 oz. of water for each pound lost due to sweating

The Norris Recreation Center activity guide will be available soon. Pick up your copy at NRC to view our upcoming programs and special events.

Important Notice: The Adult Locker Rooms are for members ages 19 and over. The boys and girls locker rooms are to be used for families and those ages 18 and younger. There are two changing rooms next to the pool entrance that can be used by anyone. Please continue to follow these Norris Recreation Center policies.
  • Walk behind the blue curtain at all times when accessing the temporary fitness floor while there is active tennis play.
  • DO NOT drag the industrial fans when moving to a new location. Please tip the fans and roll them using the wheels.
July 31- August 13
The entire NRC will be closed for replacement of electrical switch gear, panel boards and elevator shaft work, as well as annual cleaning and preventative maintenance of the facility. During this time, members may use Swanson Pool or Delnor Community Health and Wellness Center Pool and Fitness Center. Present your NRC membership card for access. Hours of availability are available at our Membership Services desk.
NRC would like to challenge its members to do their best to try and reach a goal of drinking at least 8 - 8 ounce glasses of water each day.
This example tracker sheet will be available at the Membership Services Desk or can be emailed to everyone to help record daily water intake.
