Weekly Summary

  • The Department's four new firefighter/paramedic recruits started their six week recruit training with recruits from the Cities of West Allis and Wauwatosa this week. Basic firefighter skills were reviewed this week. As the week went on, skills specific to the three Departments were incorporated into the program. The recruits will focus on EMS training beginning this Saturday.
  • The Shorewood Village Board deferred action on sale of the fire station in Shorewood to the Department and has asked for more information on options to consider including remodeling the current building.
  • Assistant Chief Harris met with firefighter candidates that remain on the Eligibility List to discuss potential employment opportunities for Fall 2018.
  • Quarterly "Company Officer/Supervisor Meetings" were held on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week. The meetings provide the opportunity to address Department objectives and current issues with the front-line supervisors.
  • Chief Whitaker met with representatives from the vendor contracted by Milwaukee County to build out the Public Safety CAD to CAD Integration. This integration will greatly enhance the Department's dispatch protocols with neighboring agencies once completed later this year.
