Weekly Summary
  • Brown Deer held their community National Night Out on Wednesday August 2. The Department did an auto extrication, demonstration, taught children how to escape a home in case of a fire, taught Hand-Only CPR and displayed a fire engine and paramedic ambulance. Flight for Life Helicopter also landed for about an hour at the event.
  • The Fire Department Board of Directors will meet on Tuesday August 8. Staff spent a significant amount of time developing the 2018 Proposed Budget in preparation for the meeting.
  • Staff met with the Cities of Wauwatosa and West Allis in preparation for the next round of firefighter recruitment testing.
  • Engine 81, Truck 82 and Battalion 8 assisted Milwaukee Fire Department with a structure fire at 4125 W. Calumet in Milwaukee on July 28.
  • Truck 82 covered a City of Brookfield Fire Station while they fought a fire in an office building on July 30.
  • A streak of four incidents within 27 minutes in Brown Deer on August 1 around noon stretched Department resources. On-duty staffed units were supplemented by administrative staff to respond to these incidents in a timely manner.
  • The Department responded to 153 incidents this past week. The average number of incidents responded to per week is 146.
