Departmental Weekly Update
Change Your Clock - Change Your Battery

Sunday March 12 is the time to move your clock ahead one hour for Daylight Savings Time. It is also a good time to change your smoke detector batteries if you don't have the ten year lithium batteries - click here for a informational message out from Community Relations Officer David Glanz.

Weekly Summary
  • Lt. Tyk and Lt. Seyferth were trained on a new supply ordering and inventory management software being implemented by Milwaukee County EMS. This software was initially introduced to the County by North Shore Fire/Rescue and is also being implemented within the Department for other uses.
  • Assistant Chief Harris and Battalion Chief Maydak participated in a joint firefighter recruit interview process with representatives of the Cities of Wauwatosa and West Allis this week. 75 candidates were interviewed. The top candidates will be offered an interview with the Fire Commission on March 17.
  • The Training Bureau is participating in the final planning stages for a six week high-rise firefighting training program that will include all Milwaukee County Fire Departments. A high-rise office building in Wauwatosa is being used as the training site. The building is being demolished once the training is completed. This has been an extensive undertaking and includes standardizing operational procedures across the entire County. Look for more information on this in the near future.
  • The Department responded to nine calls for wires down as a result of the high winds experienced in the area on March 8.
Congratulations!

Congratulations to Firefighters Aaron Turcotte, Josh Leverenz, Andrew Heiler, Tyler Vahsholtz and Gregory Gilles on being approved to begin practicing as paramedic level providers with the Department.
