Weekly Summary

  • The Department's three operational shifts completed annual ice rescue refresher training. This includes practical evolutions conducted at the lakefront. Fox 6 News ran the story at this link.
  • Fire crews responded to the 7000 Block of N Green Bay Rd on February 28 where a contractor struck a 6 inch gas main. Several area buildings were evacuated for approximately an hour and one half. After the leak was mitigated by WE Energies, fire crews monitored the air quality in the area and adjacent buildings.
  • The Board of Directors approved sending out the Fire Station 84 Remodel project for bid.
  • Chief Whitaker presented with the Department's Labor Attorney Mark Olson on collective bargaining with public safety unions at the Wisconsin City/County Managers Association Conference on Wednesday February 28 in Eau Claire.
