Weekly Update
Why is a Fire Truck at a Medical Emergency?

That's a great question. The Department sends a fire truck to a medical emergency if the fire truck is closer than the responding ambulance and can provide a quicker response time than the ambulance or if the severity of the patient's emergency requires more than two caregivers. The severity of the emergency is determined using a series of questions that are asked by the 911 Telecommunicator at the time of the 911 call. Want to learn more about how our system works?
