Weekly Summary





 

  • Weekly call volume was up 16% over an average week this past week. Breakdown of the increased number of calls by type was consistent with standard trends.
  • Firefighter/Paramedic Recruits completed their third full week of recruit training today. Three more weeks to go!
  • The Department assisted the Grafton Fire Department with two fires this past week; an apartment building fire and a large brush fire.
  • The Fire Commission met on Tuesday May 1. Action items from their meeting included:
  • Approved the successful completion of Firefighter/Paramedic Adam Newville and Joshua Larson's probationary periods.
  • Approved a Promotional Protocol, Timeline and Reading List for a Heavy Equipment Operator Promotional Process later this year. Further information will be posted shortly.
  • Discussed strategies to improve diversity in applicants in firefighter recruitment processes.
  • Interviewed five candidates for the position of Firefighter Intern.
  • The Board of Directors and Finance Committee will meet May 8 at 7:30 AM at the Whitefish Bay Library.
  • Chief Whitaker attended a stakeholders meeting with Milwaukee County Office of Emergency Management - EMS to discuss a study of the EMS System that Milwaukee County is considering sanctioning.
  • Chief Whitaker met with new Shorewood Village President Allison Rozek and Shorewood Village Manager Rebecca Ewald to discuss issues related to the Shorewood Fire Station and provide an update on fire department issues to President Rozek.
