Big Change to Eagle Palms.
What are the changes?

Eagle Palms are bronze, gold and silver awards presented to young men who earn 5, 10, or 15 or more merit badges beyond the 21 required to become an Eagle Scout.

Effective August 1, 2017
1.  A Scout can earn all Eagle Palms he has earned for metrit badges completed before his Eagle board of review along side his Eagle medal. (No longer waiting 3 months between each Palm)
2.  The tree-month tenure requirement has been expanded to allow active participation in any BSA program - not just the troop and patrol.
3.  The leadership requirement has been broadened to include
"acc
epting responsibility" as well as "demonstrating leadership."
4.  The Eagle Palm board of review has been eliminated
(Info taken from the Scouting magazine. Sept/Oct 2017)

I did my training...Why is it not showing up in my my.scouting.org account?

Oh man this one is driving many to pull their hair out.  One problem is after the training we need to click the CLOSE button NOT the X at the top of the browser.  This will close out the training and send info to our accounts.

Will your Unit be in the Veterans Parade?  Are you going to go with your family?

Enter your
service hours online

Our District Service hours are low and we are thinking it is because our units are not reporting their service hours.  We know you are busy doing service in our community.  Larry Simon has made a video on how to report your services hours.  Click HERE to see that video.

More info to come.

We need you!  In order for your unit to use the online applications you will need to update your pin.

We will show you how!

Committee Chairs - We invite you to do some research and make sure your Pack, Crew or Troop has an updated PIN.  What does that mean?  I will take you through the steps to solve this mystery.

1.  So when you go to this page (  https://beascout.scouting.org/BeAScoutMap.aspx

2.  Input the zip for your Unit.
3.  You should see this information (next to red arrow)...Click on your unit.  If you can not find your unit then you will need to update your PIN.  A link to instructions is below in number 4.

4.  If the popup window looks like this...

...with an "Apply Now" button, it means your unit has activated it's PIN and an application can be filled out.  Your good to go.

4.  If you see this page...with no links to "Apply Now"...

...you will need to activate your PIN and update your Online Registration information.
The  Online Registration Guide Book has instructions on how to do that.

The Las Vegas Area Council is now providing Scoutbook for all of our units.  If you are not already using this great resource please start!  You can track all things Scouting with Scoutbook.  Parents are able to access their Scouts records from any device.  Scoutbook will help you communicate with all the members of your unit.  Many of the tasks a unit does will be moving to the Scoutbook platform.  If you have not gotten your subscription code please contact Nancy Hill at the Scout Office.
