BIA PAC CHAIR MARCUS LO DUCA IS ALL SMILES
North State BIA PAC wraps up another successful Builders & Brews event, and more...
By North State BIA Staff
Last Thursday, the North State BIA PAC held another successful fundraiser at The Cliff House in Folsom. But, there's another reason behind Marcus' feel good smile and its something that we should all be proud about.

The National Association of Home Builders recently recognized our PAC as the  Best Regional Government Affairs Effort among our peer associations in the entire nation. What does that mean? It means we're  a political force to be reckoned with in the greater Sacramento region and a best practices model for other homebuilding PAC's to follow.  Last year, our PAC raised $255,000 and its already well on pace to meet its goal of $150,000 during this year's non-election cycle. This puts us in prime position to hit the $300,000 mark during what will be a busy 2018 election cycle.

Congratulations to Marcus, the PAC Board, Chris Norem, Katie Donahue-Duran, Rob Smith, and Rosa Trevizo for their amazing efforts.

CHAIRMAN'S CIRCLE SPOTLIGHT: loanDepot
loanDepot is America's lender and we are thrilled to have them as part of our Chairman's Circle
This week we profile  loanDepot, which matches borrowers through technology and high-touch customer care with the credit they need to fuel their lives.

LOOK, GET IT TOGETHER, THE IDEA DISTRICT IS BACK
Don't just mark your calendar, buy your ticket and join us at the Ice Blocks on June 7
We want it all, but can we get it? And what is it?  The next IDEA District will key in on how attainable housing is in Sacramento and whether we're building what people want. Our speakers for the evening will be Kacey Lizon, Planning Manager with the Sacramento Area Council of Governments and Kevin Dumler, a Staff Engineer with the Cunningham Engineering Corporation. There will also be amazing food and drinks. Plus, did we mention our venue - the Ice Blocks - is one of the most highly anticipated developments in Sacramento? So, just make sure to be there. You can sign up as a sponsor and register here.

NEED INTERNS? THE NORTH STATE BUILDING INDUSTRY FOUNDATION HAS THEM
Foundation working closely with area high schools to give students real world homebuilding industry experience
The North State Building Industry Foundation (NSBIF) is working with a number of high schools throughout the greater Sacramento region to place 16-18-year-old students into industry internships. These internships are not only an opportunity for students to learn what it's like to work in our world, but are a chance for you to show off your company and market yourselves to the next generation of workers.

Internship quick facts:
  • Train from within while marketing yourself to future workers
  • There is no limit to the type of work the intern can do for your company
  • All students will have reliable transportation to get to and from your jobs
  • All internships are paid
  • Internships vary in length but are usually a minimum of six weeks
  • Companies are not obligated to be the employer of record
If you would like to know more about hosting an intern, please contact the NSBIF's Program Administrator, Elizabeth Goldsmith.

MEMBER SERVICES AND EVENTS
Another successful golf tournament in the books
To say that the Wild West Golf Tournament at the Catta Verdera Country Club was a hit would be an understatement. It was more like a smashing success. And with back to back tournaments taking place, it was a heavy organizational load. But thanks to our amazing sponsors - especially our Tee Box Sponsors, who worked both tournaments - and volunteers, we pulled it off! Check out our sponsors and pictures from a great day out here.
Its time to register for upcoming BIA events
Mark your calendars
  • September 15: MAME 42 (entries can be submitted in July)
  • October 12-15: Sacramento Home Tour
    • Builder submissions will be accepted from July 10 to August 10. Sponsorship and advertising also available now. Contact Angela Tsukiji.
TAYLOR MORRISON IS BUILDING HOMES FOR VETERANS AND MORE
Food drive launches this week, with goal to fill pantries for six units veterans and their families will soon occupy
Taylor Morrison is nearing completion on the remodel of the additional units for veterans housing with HomeAid Sacramento and Volunteers of America. Additionally, Taylor Morrison is also kicking off a food drive this week to help fill the pantries for each of the six new families moving into these units. The BIA is proud to support this effort and will have a box in our lobby for non-perishable items. Taylor Morrison will also have a box set up in their lobby at 81 Blue Ravine Road in Folsom. So, if you plan on being at either office, please consider making a donation to help these veterans and their families!
