A WORD FROM OUR PASTOR

In the August 24 newsletter I stated that we are in serious need of a pre-school Sunday school class that would meet at the same time as our youth class each Sunday for about an hour beginning at 9:15 a.m.

We are grateful that one person has come forward to help with this class, and we will be ready to begin the class this Sunday, September 10. However, we still need additional volunteers.

If you are not involved in the choir and you feels that you have the skills to work with young children, I would urge you to pray about this and let me or Barb know if God is putting this on your heart. Also, if you are not able to commit to teaching every Sunday or even for a long period of time, please let one of us know that, too. Any offer of help would be greatly appreciated!

Blessings and Peace,
Pastor Rich

UPCOMING MISSION EVENT
In the month of September, Reedurban Presbyterian Church will be hosting a guest who works as an international peacemaker. Lydia Cordero Cabrara is from Mexico and works with women and children in the city of Juarez who are at risk from violence.
Lydia has many fascinating and moving stories to tell abut doing God's work in a part of the world where God's presence is not always easy to see.

Lydia will be at Reedurban from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 23. Reedurban will be celebrating this event with a brunch and is asking Northminster to help with hosting the brunch. Reedurban will be providing the main course, and they are asking us to bring side dishes and desserts.

There will be a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Center starting this Sunday for all of those who either wish to attend or who both wish to attend and provide food. I hope you will join me for this exciting event with our brothers and sisters at Reedurban!

Blessings,
Pastor Rich
CANTON HEALTH CARE VISITATION
Tuesday, September 19
Meet on the parking lot at 1:40 p.m.
CANTON HEALTH CARE
Canton Health Care at North Market Street is one of Northminster's out-reach charities.

It is holding an "Antique / Old Car Show" on its parking lot on the evening of Thursday, September 21, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for the enjoyment of their residents.
They have issued an invitation to anyone with such a car to bring it down for their show. Call Charlynn at 330.454.2152 for details.

Women from Northminster and Calvary go to Canton Health Care monthly and take cupcakes and beverages to celebrate the birthdays for that month. They also play BINGO so the people can choose a free gift for their birthdays or when they win. They can choose from the trays of items we bring that are useful or comforting to them. All clients are on Medicare and most have no families or kin at all.

SPECIAL REQUEST for FORMER PASTOR

Former pastor of Northminster, Don Andrews , is now 94-years-old and lives by himself in McKinney Texas. He travels each summer by himself to visit his daughter, Pat, in Uniontown. This request has come from Pat via Lloyd Groves:

Hello Lloyd,

My father is going on an Honor Flight with 100 other veterans at the end of the month (September 29-30). He will be flying from Dallas to DC to visit the memorials, stay overnight, visit several more memorials and then fly home. The volunteer who will be assisting him during this trip has asked us to do something special for him.

On the flight home, they will have "Mail Call". Each veteran will receive a packet of mail like they used to receive when they were in the service. They would like his friends and family to send a card or letter for him to read on the trip home. If you could, would you send this message to others who might send my father a card or letter. It needs to arrive before September 23 in Texas which is a 3-4 day delivery time from Ohio. I am sure he will be very surprised and touched.

Here's the address the card or letter should be sent:

Karen Stewart
4200 Lonestar Circle
McKinney, Texas 75071

Thank you so much,
Pat Sharp
