Featured Review

This is a beautiful, complex first book in a new fantasy trilogy rich with the feel of Middle Eastern folklore. It is a breathless adventure, part human - part fantasy, through 19th century Egypt, Turkey and the Arabian peninsula. There are humans, djinn, demons and a brass city protected by magic. The author painstakingly develops a complex world view with richly developed characters and conflicts. You will be drawn thoroughly into this world, and left clamoring for the next installment.

A revealing new portrait of Robert F. Kennedy that gets closer to the man than any book before, by bestselling author Chris Matthews, an esteemed Kennedy expert and anchor of MSNBC's
Hardball.

"Like
The Hidden Life of Trees, Peter Wohlleben's
The Inner Life of Animals
will rock your world. Surprising, humbling, and filled with delight, this book shows us that animals think, feel and know in much the same way as we do--and that their lives are, to them, as precious as ours are to us."

--Sy Montgomery, author of
The Soul of an Octopus

"Destined to be a classic L.A. novel."--Michael Connelly
When a teen runs away from his father's mysterious commune, he sets in motion a domino effect that will connect six characters desperate for hope and love, set across the sun-bleached canvas of Los Angeles.

Dropped into a maelstrom of earth-shattering events, Harry Truman acted with bluntness, bravery, and little bravado. His decisions at the end of World War II, including deployment of the atomic bomb, permanently altered, for better or worse, our world. - Mike Hare

Founded in 1994, Sullivan Street Bakery is renowned for its outstanding bread, which graces the tables of New York's most celebrated restaurants. The bread at Sullivan Street Bakery, crackling brown on the outside and light and aromatic on the inside, is inspired by the dark, crusty loaves that James Beard Award-winning baker

Artemis
by Andy Weir

Pre-order the book and get an Artemis backpack. While supplies last!

The bestselling author of
The Martian
returns with an irresistible new near-future thriller--a heist story set on the moon.

Jazz Bashara is a criminal.Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent.

I feel very fortunate to live in Vermont, that is home to so many icons, people who represent and are willing to work for principle and civility.  One of the most distinguished of these icons - and important to the future of the planet - is
Bill McKibben.

Bill will be launching his new book RADIO FREE VERMONT at the Northshire in Manchester on Tuesday, November 7th at 6:00 PM.  This is not Bill's usual fare, but a comical and fictional response to the burgeoning resistance movement.  One reviewer called it "an addictive caper loaded with craft beer, contract spies, and chase scenes on cross-country skis!"

We look to our heroes for sustenance during unsettled times, and Bill is one of those people.  He was one of the first to warn of the dangers of global warming in his book THE END OF NATURE, first serialized in The New Yorker, in 1989.  He has been tireless in sounding the alarm about the impact of global warming and human behavior on the environment.  He is a Distinguished Scholar at Middlebury College, leader of the anti-carbon group  350.org, as well as many other movements.  He is considered the foremost environmental activist in the country, and we in Vermont are proud to claim him.

An important discussion about Mitchell's in-depth study of Amazon and what the company's growing dominance means for Vermont's small businesses, jobs, and communities. As part of the discussion they will speak to how policymakers can address Amazon's market power and impacts, and what citizens can do to support a more diverse, equitable, and locally rooted economy, even when they're shopping online.
