Summer Challenger  
     

Summer Challenger registration begins this week, Monday February 13, 2017. Summer Challenger is a wonderful option for summer childcare for rising kindergarten through fifth grade students. This is an engaging learning environment where students participate in field trips, summer fun activities, as well as continue doing fun learning activities together!

Kindergarten American Symbols
Arts Integration Showcase  
     
  

Our kindergarten classes have been working hard to learn about American symbols both in and through the arts. They will share their learning with their parents and community members on Friday February 24, 2017 in the PE room. Guests will then be invited to the classrooms to learn about other arts integrated projects connected to this unity of study students have completed.

Performance Schedule 
9:00 a.m.- Mrs. Estridge and Mrs. Myers' classes can have guests attend.
12:30 p.m.- Mrs. Romero and Mrs. Saverance's classes can have guests attend.
**NOTE:  All students will perform twice and will need to remain at school for the entire day.**  
 
 
 
Reminder:  
Valentine's Day Parties This Tuesday
   
   
     
   
On Tuesday, February 14th, the school will be celebrating Valentine's Day! We'll decorate Valentine bags and distribute valentines to our friends. We will end our day with snacks that come from the list below. These treats align with our school wellness goals, our partnership with The Alliance for a Healthier Generation and food allergy concerns, not to mention they are all quite yummy! For all non-perishable items, please have those here by Monday, February 13th. Fresh fruit or items that need to be refrigerated can be brought on Tuesday, February 14th
 
Below, you'll find a list of snacks. You can sign up to bring specific snacks with your child's teacher.

PTO and SIC Meetings 
     
   

 
There is no PTO meeting on February 13, 2017 due to a conflict with an SIC meeting. A new meeting date will be sent out soon.



The next SIC Meeting will take place on Monday February 13, 2017 at 5:30 p.m. We were invited to do a presentation to the school board at the district office. All SIC members should receive an additional email with more information. 

 
 
Let Me Run!
   


Let Me Run is a an all-boy running group that inspires boys through the power of running to be courageous enough to be themselves, to build healthy relationships, and to live an active lifestyle!
Let Me Run Boys:
         
Run with a team of other elementary school students.
Train for 7 weeks after school, 2 days per week.
Grow in personal strength, endurance, and goal setting.
Become more aware of your own personal gifts and those of others.
Celebrate the courage to be yourself.
Learn to be a better friend, identify true friends, and embrace positive relationships.
Complete in the final Let Me Run 5k!

Session Begins: March 22, 2017 (Registration begins February 1, 2017)
Practice Dates/Times: Monday/Wednesdays at 2:30

In order to serve as a volunteer this year, please make sure you complete the application to be a volunteer with the Rock Hill Schools.  A link to the application is here.
You have to complete this process every TWO years with the Rock Hill Schools.
