At the Y, strengthening community is our cause. That's why we're determined to build the Northwest Family YMCA in Greater Baldwinsville. It's also why we wanted to keep you informed on our progress.

Last week, the volunteers leading the effort to build the Northwest Family YMCA met to discuss the three finalist sites for the new Y. They carefully considered each location, but they came together to voice support for just one. Building the new Y on the southern edge of Timber Banks - 49 acres of donated land on River Road - will allow us to deliver on our cause today and for generations to come.

The recommendation from the Greater Baldwinsville Y Board of Managers now goes to the Metropolitan Board of the YMCA of Greater Syracuse, which will make a final decision. If things go well there, next steps would include drawing up revised construction plans, submitting them to the appropriate agencies for approval, breaking ground, and raising money.

Along the way, we'll be reaching out to you and the rest of the community, helping everyone get involved in this $17 million project that will help so many of our neighbors. We're energized to be starting fresh and moving forward. We're hopeful the process will move quickly, but we'll be prepared if it doesn't.

We could use your help.
If you haven't already, please become a Friend of the Y. You can use the form to tell us how you'd like to get more involved.

Thanks for all you've done in the past, and for your continued, patient support. Together, we'll strengthen our community, for good.
