October 3rd -Free Public Screening of "The Children Next Door" at The Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre in Uptown Beckley. http://cdv.org/documentary/ Professional Forum/Panel Discussion following. Members of family will be present at this screening to speak and be part of professional forum. (Raleigh County) 6pm - 8pm (WRC HOSTED EVENT)
October 4th - Advocates will be present at Fayetteville High School football game handing out information about WRC, services, domestic violence and teen dating violence. (Fayette County) 7pm
October 5th - Visit our booth at Chili Night in uptown Beckley for information about domestic violence and WRC services. Don't miss out on sampling the first place and people's choice winning recipe from our Something Sweet Dessert Contest ~ oatmeal pie. (Raleigh County) 5pm - 9pm
October 12th - Annual Candlelight Vigil at UMT's "The Place" in Beckley. This is our yearly event to hear inspirational survivor speakers, recognize our "Incite Hope" award winners, celebrate survivors, honor those who lost their lives to domestic violence in WV in the last 12 months, and to come together to show our desire and effort to end domestic violence in our communities. (Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas, and Summers counties participate) 5:30pm - 7:30pm (WRC HOSTED EVENT)
October 18th - Raleigh County STOP Team to be honored at a ceremony and reception at the Robert C. Byrd United States Courthouse in Charleston at 2:00pm. The Team has been selected as an award recipient of the 2013, U.S. Attorney's Law Enforcement and Victim Assistance Awards. The Team was nominated because of its exemplary efforts to end violence against women through a team approach to investigation, prosecution and prevention. This is quite an honor for the Women's Resource Center, Beckley Police Department, and the Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
October 18th - Advocates will be present at Oak Hill High School Homecoming football game handing out information about WRC, services, domestic violence and teen dating violence. (Fayette County) 7:00pm
October 19th - Bridge Day. Take a Down Under Tour with Glade Springs and WRC volunteers. A percentage of the proceeds will help WRC continue to provide free, confidential services to victims of domestic and sexual violence. October 26th - Tailgate Halloween in Uptown Beckley - WRC's rural outreach advocate will have a booth and handout materials and candy to children/families in attendance. (Raleigh County) 11:00am - 1:00pm.

WOAY-TV FORUM - Sept. 29th - 10:00AM. A 30 minute show will feature information on WRC domestic violence, domestic violence on children, WRC October awareness events, etc. with Dee Sizemore of WRC and Roger Lockridge, survivor of child domestic violence.
103CIR - October 3rd - live on the morning show with Rick and Lola. Dee Sizemore from WRC and Roger Lockridge will be talking about the effects of domestic violence on children and the Raleigh County screening of The Children Next Door.

Fayette County Farmer's Market: in the Fayetteville CVB Parking Lot. Contact the Farmer's Market directly for a booth in their area.
Artisan Village & Live Music in Janutolo Park: If you are interested in being an artisan vendor, call the Fayetteville CVB at 304-574-1500 or email us at [email protected] no later than 12:00 noon on the Friday before Market Day and register your booth. You may also register your booth by completing the Artist Form and returning it to the Fayetteville CVB.
*SPECIAL NOTE: Only handmade, artist-produced crafts, jewelry, photography, stainedglass, art, soaps, candles, textiles, needlework, illustrations, weaving, turned wood, calligraphy, collages, pottery, etc. will be accepted for the Artisan Village. No food, flea market, or mass produced items are permitted in the village. If you have a question about an item you wish to sell, please contact the Fayetteville CVB.
There is no booth fee for the artisan vendors in Janutolo Park. Each vendor must provide their own table, chairs, and tent, if desired. No electricity is available. Set-up may begin at 7:00 a.m. Space is available on a first come, first serve basis.

FAYETTE COUNTY WOMEN: Ten Workouts Can Make a Difference in the Fight Against Breast Cancer.
Curves of OAK HILL Invites Fayette County women to purchase a 10-Workout Punch Card in October with proceeds going to Breast Cancer Awareness
Curves, the largest fitness club chain in the world for women and a leader in the weight management category, announces a $10 punch card for 10 workouts. This is in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Residents in Oak Hill and surrounding communities are invited to purcase a $10 punch card for 10 workouts at Curves with proceeds going to American Cancer Society. The 10 workouts can be done in honor of someone who has battled breast cancer. Each participant may sign a poster at the Club as a way to show community support. The famous 30-minute Curves Circuit features a full body workout with strength training and cardio.
"The Curves mission is to strengthen women and this promotion helps us do just that." says Susan Woods of Curves of Oak Hill. "The punch card is a fun way for women to get involved and help punch out cancer, but it also gives us the opportunity to teach the importance of exercising regulary and maintaining a healthy weight. After all, 30 minutes of 'me' time is always a good thing."

That's right-only $35 w/o elec & $40 w/ elec per booth space of 10ft. We supply 2 chairs and electricity upon request (electricity is limited). (Must supply own table) The Red Cross will promote the event and collects the $35 or $40; you keep what you sell. We do ask that each vender donate at least one item to be used for door prizes. We arrange entertainment, a food concession and have even asked a jolly, big guy in a plush, red suit to join the fun again this year.
Decorate a small tree at your booth-make it an original, make it different! A prize goes to the most original.
(No electric lights or candles please)
Admission will be by donation. Proceeds will go to the American Red Cross Fayette-Nicholas County Chapter. Military ceremony at 1pm. Santa present from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
A Christmas Tree will be located in the Center from Nov 4th thru Dec. 31st. The Christmas tree is in honor of all Servicemen and Service women. If you have someone in the Service or someone who has ever served in any branch of the Military, please put their name on an ornament; stop anytime and place the ornament on the tree! Ornaments will be available at the Christmas Festival.
