People are hooked on reality TV, which has helped fuel the popularity of so many shows, especially on HGTV, where viewers get to see total transformation of houses. Dawn Zuber, AIA, was selected to design one of those transformations. She designed a complete remodel of an Ann Arbor, Mich. bungalow for HGTV's Urban Oasis in 2016. In Dawn's presentation she will be talking about her design and giving us a behind-the-scenes look at how houses are transformed so quickly.

Federal Tax Reform Framework Released - Help Save the Historic Tax Credit! 

The federal historic tax credit was not included in the Republican leadership's outline for tax reform. The framework released by White House and Congressional leaders is intended to guide House and Senate tax writing committees, who will now begin to draft tax reform legislation.

ABA Forum on Construction Law presents "Construction Insurance"   

The ABA Forum on Construction Law is presenting a one-day program "Construction Insurance" in Indianapolis on November 3 at Barnes & Thornburg. The program will cover topics including: commercial general liability insurance; builders risk insurance; professional liability insurance; OCIPs and CCIPs; additional insureds; indemnity clauses; performance and payment bonds; subcontractor default insurance; and other related topics. Meet the AIA Strategic Council

As part of the AIA's leadership structure, the AIA Strategic Council is charged with surveying the evolving climate of the profession, engaging in strategic planning that informs the overall goals of the Institute, and informing the Board of Directors and other Institute bodies about important professional issues and opportunities. Although it's not a governing body of AIA, the Council's work is vital to AIA's ability to serve the profession.
 
Because the Council is dedicated to connecting with and informing the membership at large, they have created the Strategic Council Handbook as a resource for the relationships that advance the work of the Council and the framework establishing its actions. For a more specific overview of the Council's endeavors throughout this year, members are also invited to review the 2017 Strategic Council Yearbook. Real Estate Trends 2018: Get Ready for What's Next 

ULI Indiana invites you to get ready for what's next by attending, "Real Estate Trends 2018" Tuesday, November 14, at Indy's historic Union Station. ULI Indiana's signature annual event kicks off with panels of industry leaders discussing trends in a variety of timely topics: "Housing Choices in a Changing World," "Tech and the Office Environment," and "Ecommerce and Industrial/Big Box Retail."
 
Keynote speaker Andrew Warren, director, real estate research at PwC, will provide an outlook on real estate and highlights from the publication, "Emerging Trends in Real Estate 2018," which will be followed by a response panel. In addition, ULI Indiana will celebrate its 10-year anniversary with some special announcements and conclude the day with a networking reception.
 
Real Estate Trends 2018 will be submitted for AIA, AICP, CPSM and PE continuing education units/professional development hours and may be eligible for LACES credits.

RFQ for Western Michigan University's Student Center & Dining Facility Project 

Founded in 1903, Western Michigan University is a student-centered research university located in Kalamazoo, Michigan, with an enrollment of approximately 23,000.  WMU is Michigan's sixth largest public university, attracting a diverse and culturally rich student body from across the United States and almost 100 other countries.
 
The University is seeking information and qualifications from Architectural/Engineering firms in the United States. WMU plans to pre-qualify interested firms for an upcoming project for a new Student Center & Dining facility on the WMU Main Campus. As a minimum, proposed design teams should have experience with 1) Student Center design and 2) Higher Education Dining facilities.

Generative Design for Healthcare Planning Webinar
