The alert reader will notice that there is no "Kudos" column in this month's issue of the newsletter. That could be because nobody has accomplished anything worth mentioning for the past month, or, more likely, shyness and modesty have won the day over braggadocio, seeing that there's been enough of that during this political season. Well, that's about over now, so go ahead and brag. Let us hear about your many accomplishments, your publications, the fruit of your fevered imagination.

Kim Wright is the author of Love in Mid Air, The Unexpected Waltz, and The Canterbury Sisters. A two-time winner of the Lowell Thomas Award for travel writing, she has been writing about travel, food, and wine for more than twenty years for magazines such as Wine Spectator, Self, Travel & Leisure, and Vogue. She also ballroom dances competitively. Kim lives in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The meeting will take place on the first floor of the PUMC, room 104, at 7:00.

I'm a former management consultant from Massachusetts and a graduate of Mount Holyoke College and Yale University. I write YA and adult fiction, all with an edgy, dark and suspenseful vibe. My third published novel, Full-Out, released in July and I'm excited about going the self-published route with that one. If anyone is trying to decide how to publish, just shoot me a message on FB or at jenruff.com and I'll be happy to talk about my experience.
The two things that have been the most beneficial to me as a writer are joining a critique group and finding other authors who are willing to exchange manuscripts and feedback. Both help me improve my craft and build support networks that keep me interested and inspired.
I have several manuscripts underway at any given time and enjoy skipping around in them from beginning to middle to end. I'm amazed and impressed by the authors who can write one chapter at a time, one book at a time. There is no right way, so find whatever works for you and mix it up if you aren't as excited as you'd like to be.
In my spare time I go to the YMCA, volunteer, and take care of my husband, three sons, three adopted greyhounds and the occasional foster dog.

Thursday, November 17th. Author and Poet Ann Campanella, who has written about her mother's descent into Alzheimer's, will read from her memoir
Motherhood: Lost and Found. The audience will be invited to share their own stories. Ann will be joined by Certified Dementia Care Practitioner Pam Brunell for a question and answer session. CWC North is sponsoring this event. Ann and her family live in northern Mecklenburg County. She is a member of Charlotte Writers Club and on the CWC North committee.
