Gratitude is getting lots of attention recently,--even scientists are touting the benefits. They're finding that people who practice gratitude consistently report:
  • Stronger immune systems
  • Lower blood pressure
  • Increased levels of positive emotions, such as joy, optimism, and happiness
  • Feeling less lonely and isolated
As we head into the final week of the 2016 election cycle, and the month of Thanksgiving, a national holiday based on giving thanks, I wonder if we could all consider what about our country and our political system we are grateful for. 

8 Limbs is grateful for the work Street Yoga does to bring yoga to incarcerated people. All proceeds from our Thanksgiving Day Benefit classes will go to Street Yoga this year. Have ideas for our 2017 Community Giving Partner? Email us

And I have a TON of gratitude for the staff at 8 Limbs. It's been a big year for us--new website, 20th Anniversary Celebration ( click here for photos by Roniq Bartanen, here for Photo Booth shots and here for the speeches given), and an increased commitment to social justice and inclusivity in yoga, which has touched every level of our organization. Any one of these would have been a big undertaking, but our staff has taken on all of this in addition to our extensive programming. They are AWESOME, and we are looking for a few more t o join us. See the end of this newsletter for an update on some manager changes and three open positions at 8 Limbs.

We are are waving goodbye to two 8 Limbs studio managers: Jami Mooney (Capitol Hill) and Monika Jolly (West Seattle). We wish them both all the best and are glad we'll still see them in the yoga rooms! 

Claudette Evans, who was our Phinney Ridge Manager, is now over at Capitol Hill, and her Yoga Advisor Nicole Pomroy is the new Phinney Manager. Rainbow Fletcher, West Seattle Yoga Advisor, is in training to be West Seattle Manager. 

With all of this change, CAPITOL HILL, WEST SEATTLE and PHINNEY RIDGE are looking for Yoga Advisors.  Please contact capitolhill@8limbsyoga.com, westseattle@8limbsyoga.com or phinneyridge@8limbsyoga.com for more information. Please contact the studio that is your first choice, but if applying indicate if you are also open to other locations.
