We value your business and would like to keep the lines of communication open between you and Quest.

Yes, continue sending me emails.
nullAs we move towards the end of 2016, we continue to see the popularity of crossovers, small SUVs and pick-up trucks, and the decline of mid- and full-size passenger car sales. One of the anticipated highlights in 2017 will be the introduction of the 2018 Audi Q5, which we touch on in this month's newsletter. Please give us a call for more information on this or any other make or model.

In addition, Quest still has a couple of nearly new 2016 Ram 1500 Crew Cabs in stock with very low mileage, ranging from 5,000 to 15,000 kms. All are available for lease at substantial savings. Call us for details!

We hope you enjoy the information and will call us at (416)-609-2125 with any questions or needs that you may have regarding your next vehicle.

Thanks so much,

2018 Audi Q5

As little as 12 years ago, Audi didn't have an SUV to its name. In 2009, three years after the Q7, the Q5 arrived, taking on the small premium crossover segment. It became so popular, it outsold any other small luxury SUV in Canada last year.

The new 2018 Q5 aims to repeat that success by improving every facet of the vehicle.

The Q5 is all new from its core to every panel on the body. The initial powertrain offering for North America will be Volkswagen Group's 2.0TFSI, a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder tuned to 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque paired with the seven-speed dual-clutch 'S tronic' gearbox. The transmission is quick and smart, finding the right gear without delay.

The standard Quattro AWD puts power down to all four wheels, favouring the front, but able to send up to 50 per cent of torque to the rear when conditions dictate.

Audi's Multi-Media Interface and Virtual Cockpit offer several ways to operate the navigation, audio, and car systems. The most common functions can be accessed from the steering wheel without lifting your hand.

The 2018 Q5 is set to arrive next spring with advanced features like adaptive cruise and new driver assistance systems, onboard Wi-Fi, and a wireless charging tray.

Ram 1500 Crowned Canadian Truck King

The Canadian Truck King Challenge celebrated its 10th year by naming the Ram 1500 its overall winner. It is the third time in a row that the Ram 1500 has won the honour, this year the variant entered was the Ram 1500 Crew Cab Sport 4x4 with a 5.7-litre HEMI V-8, while the previous two were won by the Ram 1500 3.0L V-6 EcoDiesel variant. Ram 1500 also won the 1/2-category.

Ram also won the 3/4-ton category with its 2500with 6.7L Cummins Turbo Diesel engine.

The 2017 Canadian Truck King Challenge  evaluated a field of trucks ranging from midsize to heavy duty, coming up with a number of data points on the entire field of trucks.

Each contender was evaluated by six pickup truck testers and rated on a number of factors. The trucks were tested back-to-back on the same day and put through the same battery of tests, which included towing a trailer and hauling a payload.

Categories of evaluation include appearance, room/comfort/access, steering and handling, and payload.

The 1500 scored a 79.4 per cent to win the top prize.

2017 Honda Civic Hatchback

It's hard to believe it's been almost 17 years since a hatchback version of the Honda Civic was last in North America.

In bringing the Civic hatch to North American shores, Honda has cranked up the car's practicality with the addition of two rear doors. It rides on the same platform as the sedan and coupe models, but measures about 4.5 inches shorter than both.

When the rear seats are up, the Civic hatch benefits from an industry-first rear privacy cover that rolls out from the side, saving space by staying tucked out of the way until needed. The cover has the ability to be mounted on the left or right, with no need to remove it when the seats are folded.

The hatch has a turbocharged 1.5-litre engine and a manual gearbox. It makes 174 horsepower on tap to go along with 162 lb-ft of torque with the six-speed manual; sport models get to 180 horsepower with 177 lb-ft of torque.

The new Civic hatch drives a bit like a mash-up of the coupe and sedan, feeling sporty enough to have fun while still delivering on the all-important commuter comfort.

Top 10 Coolest Automotive Logos
Every car company has its own logo and, like the vehicles they build, some are better than others. Here are some of the most elegant and coolest.

10. Mitsubishi
While the brand has struggled in North America for decades, the appealing logo is simple and clean. In Japanese, mitsu means three and hishi means water chestnut with a diamond shape, so the literal translation is "three diamonds," matching the logo perfectly.

9. Aston Martin
The nifty emblem of stretched out, stylized wing sometimes sits on the rear end of models with tail lights that mimic the logo.

8. Citroën
The French automaker carries a double-chevron as its logo that is rooted in history. It symbolizes a herringbone gear, a design that cancels out the axial thrust found in normal helically cut gears, which the brand's founder saw in Poland.

7. Subaru
The twinkling emblem actually represents the Pleiades star cluster, which is part of the Taurus constellation. Subaru picked this specific group of stars because it's the Japanese word for a group stars found in the constellation.

6. Volkswagen
This brand directly traces its root back to Nazi Germany. In the 1930s, Hitler wanted an affordable car that could mobilize the Reich, which ended up being the Beetle (although it didn't reach its height until after the war). Not something you'd ever guess by looking at it's clean, crisp logo.

5. Mazda
Depending on your perspective, this Japanese automaker's logo could look like an "M," blooming tulip, or even a soaring bird with its wings spread wide.

4. Porsche
Porsche's regal emblem is kind of a hybrid, featuring the city of Stuttgart's coat of arms in the middle and the symbol for the Kingdom of Württemberg.

3. Alfa Romeo
The red cross in this logo represents the city of Milan, the birthplace of the automaker, while the crown stand for the House of Visconti, a noble Italian family.

2. Audi
The interlocking rings seen in this logo represent the four brands that once formed the defunct Auto Union, which is the predecessor to the Audi we know today.

1. BMW
The iconic emblem represents several things: the blue and white is for the Bavarian flag and an aircraft propeller for the high-flying engines they began building in the 1920s.

Why You Should Never Drive on Empty
Some drivers see their fuel gauge as a nagging parent; it lights up urging you to fill like your mom or dad would remind you to clean your room. But don't ignore your car's insistence on refuelling, because you can damage your car by running it on empty.

The warning light indicates that fuel has reached the reserve level, which is about 10 to 15 per cent of your tank's total capacity.

In your fuel tank, there is a contraption called a fuel pump, which sends the fuel from the tank to the engine. The fuel pump relies on the gasoline in the tank to keep it cool and lubricated. Running on a low tank means that the pump isn't staying as lubricated as it should and is at risk of overheating.

T he obvious downside is premature failure of the pump.  That's a pretty expensive repair that will lead to poor performance.

Your fuel pump also has a fuel filter, which can quickly get dirty if you have a low tank. Since any sediment or dirt sinks to the bottom of the tank, the fuel filter could end up getting blocked or take in dirty fuel, which also has costly consequences.
