NCCP Coaching Seminar: January 5-7 in Vancouver
We are holding a NCCP Coaching Seminar in Vancouver in January. We will be running three courses and one NCCP module during the Seminar: FUNdamentals, Learn 2 Train, Train 2 Train, and the CAC pre-requisite Making Ethical Decisions/Concussion Module. 

Visit the Coach Education page on our website for more information on all courses. Please note that the three courses will be running throughout the weekend. All sessions of the course that you register for are mandatory.

We are seeking applicants for the position of Member Services & Communications Coordinator.  This is a full-time position based at the Field Hockey BC office in Vancouver, BC and has a desired start date of January 2, 2018.

UBC Win Seventh-Straight National Championship
Congratulations to the University of British Columbia Women's Field Hockey team on winning the 2017 U Sports National Championship. This is the 7th Straight McCrae Cup win for the Thunderbird program.

UBC played the OUA Champions, York University Lions in a best-of-three series at UBC's Wright Field. The Thunderbirds beat the Lions 2-0 in two straight games to win the Championship.  Sarah Keglowitsch (UBC, Shawnigan Lake) was named the Championship MVP. 


U Sports Awards were handed out before the Championship began. Lindsay Cole (UVic, Victoria) won the Gail Wilson Award for Student-Athlete Community Service. Three BC Players were also named to the U Sports All-Canadian team:
Sarah Keglowitsch (UBC, Shawnigan Lake)
Rachel Spouge (U of T, West Vancouver)
Sabrina Wong (U of C, West Vancouver)

UBC Thunderbirds - 2017 U Sports Champions

Handsworth win 2017 Provincial AAA Championship
Congratulations to the Handsworth Royals on winning the 2017 Provincial AAA Girls High School Field Hockey Championship! The Royals faced tough competition in the tournament, and persevered through two shootouts to eventually claim the title. Handsworth beat Mt. Doug in a shootout in the Semi-Final game, and then went on to beat Kelowna Secondary in a shootout in the Final. What a thrilling way to win a Championship!

Collingwood win 2017 Provincial AA Championships
Congratulations to the Collingwood Cavaliers on winning the 2017 Provincial AA Girls High School Field Hockey Championship! For the third-straight year, Collingwood and Crofton House met in the AA Championship Final, with Collingwood coming out ahead by a score of 2-1 this year.

Collingwood Cavaliers - 2017 Provincial AA Champions
Job Posting: Field Hockey Sessional Instructor
The School of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia is seeking applicants for a part-time Sessional Field Hockey Instructor position. This appointment runs for approximately 6 weeks (four hours per week) from February 27 to April 5, 2018.

Coaching Opportunity: Canadian Masters Programs
The Canadian Men's & Women's Masters Field Hockey programs  are both seeking a head coach to work with them in advance of the 2018 Masters World Cup in Terrassa, Spain. Both positions are volunteer opportunities, but costs will be covered to travel to the World Cup.  The deadline to apply is December 1st.

U18 Men's National Team on Tour in California
The Canadian U18 Men's National Team are currently in Moorpark, California for a 4-game test series against the US U19 Men's National Team. The Canadian squad is made up of 22 athletes, 11 of whom are from BC, that are competing for a chance to represent Canada at the  2018 U18 Pan Am Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico in March. 


Canada and the US are even through two matches, with Canada winning the first match 3-2 on Sunday and then falling to the US 2-1 on Monday. Two more games will be played between the perennial rivals - today at noon, and Thursday at 10am.


Paul Bundy named Men's National Team Head Coach
Congratulations to Paul Bundy on officially being named the Canadian Men's National Team Head Coach! Bundy has been working with Field Hockey Canada since 2010 and has been the Men's National Team Assistant Coach for the last several years. He was appointed the Interim Head Coach of the team when Head Coach Anthony Farry departed the program in the Spring of 2017.
