Baltimore Light the Night Walk
Leukemia & Lymphoma Society - Maryland Chapter
 
Date/Time: Saturday, November 3, 6:30 - 10pm. Three shifts:
  • 8am - noon
  • Noon - 4pm
  • 4 - 9:30pm
Location:  333 West Camden St., Baltimore

At Light The Night (LTN), it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures. LTN is a series of fundraising campaigns benefiting LLS' funding of research to find blood cancer cures. We bring hope instead of despair by working to ensure access to treatments for all blood cancer patients. We bring communities together to celebrate those who are fighting the disease and to honor those we have lost. We are taking steps to end cancer. The Opening Ceremony begins at 6:30pm with our walk to begin immediately following. Our walk cannot be a success without the help of our volunteers. Duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Event set up: t-shirts, registration, lanterns, bright lights, start arch, remembrance pavilion, team tents/pavilions, Circle of Survivors, kids' zone, food area, etc.
  • Event support: distribute t-shirts, distribute lanterns, distribute bright lights, register participants, collect money, monitor team tents, monitor kid zone, monitor food section, monitor corporate village, monitor Circle of Survivors, monitor remembrance pavilion, etc.
  • Walk: route volunteers spread amongst the two-mile course
  • Post-walk: clean up all areas and pack up the rental truck
Ages: All ages are welcome. Children must be accompanied by a guardian.
 
Time Commitment: Shifts are four to five and one-half hours

Harvest Helpers with Civic Works
United Way of Central Maryland

Location: Little Gunpowder Farm, 17028 Old York Rd., Monkton

Have a green thumb? Have kids that like to dig in the dirt? Or perhaps you're looking to get that perfect farmer's tan? If so, Harvest Helpers is for you! Bring your friends, coworkers and family to join in the fun at First Fruits Farm. Together, we'll roll up our sleeves and harvest produce for our neighbors in need of healthy fruits and vegetables.

5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for the Homeless
B & Dee's Baltimore Love
 
Date/Time: Saturday, November 17, 11am - 4pm
 
Location: 420 Fallsway, Baltimore

The mission of B & Dee's Baltimore Love is to provide help and resources to those experiencing poverty and homelessness in Baltimore City and to inspire others to give back to the community. Join us for our 5th Annual Thanksgiving Dinner for those in need. It's by far our biggest event of the year! Last year, we served 3,200 meals. In addition to meals, there will be vendors, giveaways, and live entertainment.

Fall Bake Sale Fundraiser
Clean Bread & Cheese Creek
 
Date/Time: Saturday, November 17, between noon - 4pm
 
Location: Walmart, 2399 North Point Blvd., Dundalk

Need a fancy centerpiece cake for your Thanksgiving or fall family gathering? Want a homemade treat for dessert without spending time in the kitchen? Help Clean Bread & Cheese Creek raise money to finance our cleanups in the Dundalk area by purchasing a homemade treat for your dinner table or Thanksgiving celebration. Donations of baked goods are needed and greatly appreciated as well. Money raised from the bake sale will be used to purchase equipment and supplies for future cleanups throughout the Dundalk area. Stone Soup with Families Living United

Location: Our Daily Bread, 725 Fallsway, Baltimore

Together, we can work to end hunger in Baltimore City. Bring your whole family and join us to assemble meals for people in need. Inspired by the children's story, Stone Soup, we ask each family member participating to bring an item from our grocery list. Once you have registered, we will send you a follow-up email indicating which ingredients your family should provide.

Baby Gear Donations

Date/Time: Every Tuesday, between 9:30am - 6pm. Pull up to the building loading dock door and a ShareBaby team member will be available to assist you.
 
Location: 1792 Union Ave., Baltimore

ShareBaby has set the goal of distributing 2 million essential items to Baltimore's neediest young children by the close of 2019. Bring us your new and gently used baby items, diapers, wipes, and diaper cream to distribute to children in need at our partner organizations in Baltimore. We accept new AND open packs of diapers. Wipes and diaper cream must be new. We have an especially high need for diapers, pull ups, and wipes. Be sure to review the list of items we do/do not accept before you come. Tax receipts are available upon request.

Location: Family-to-Family will connect you with a family to sponsor.

Teach your children the importance of sharing your bounty with others by sponsoring a family in need with a monthly box of groceries. Choose one of the six options on the Family-to Family website and your family can help ease the burden of hunger and poverty in one of America's poorest communities. Depending on the option you choose, you'll need to buy groceries and personal care items, along with a box and postage.
