WWYHLTEFT?! - Wednesday, Nov. 29 (Parish-Wide Potluck) at 5:15pm What would you have LOVED to eat for Thanksgiving? Grateful for the seasonal bounty of God's creation AND the freedom we share in Jesus Christ, St. James' parishioners get to choose their own post-Thanksgiving adventure: sharing foods that might have gone missing from our turkey-Thursday feasts. Bring your favorite dish to share for our final parish-wide potluck for 2017. 5:15pm in the Guild Hall!

Wait, what? - Four Sundays at 4pm, starting Sunday, November 26 Whether you're queuing up at the grocery check-out or watching the mailbox for an important package, waiting is seldom easy. Most of us distract ourselves, to take the edge off the impatience, frustration, or disappointment that often accompanies waiting. Still, God waits for us, throughout our lives, inviting our expectations to be shaped and transformed by a perfect love that promises healing and hope. Join this small-group series with Mother Sarah, for any and all sessions, as we explore ways to embrace sacred waiting in Advent.

A tradition for 19 years!
The St. James' Giving Tree will soon appear
Kansas Children's Service League and Episcopal Social Services have interviewed the families and given us their lists. Both agencies and the families are extremely grateful for your help!
  • An essential part of this project is the food basket which goes to each family. So this weekend, please pick up a holly leaf (or two or three...) which has a food or paper item listed,   (i.e., 12 cans of corn, six paper towel rolls, 4 jars of peanut butter, etc.)
  • Please bring these food items to the church as soon as you can. There will be a cart in the entryway.
  • Look for the Giving Tree with its tags for Christmas gifts or gift cards, immediately after Thanksgiving.
Due to the closing of the After School Program and Deacon Peg's 7000 Toys project for St. Francis' foster children, we will be assisting fewer families this year, but they
are all in sincere need, and counting on St. James' legendary kindness.

If you have not already mailed in your pledge to the church or turned in your stewardship commitment on In Gathering Sunday, it is not too late!  Please let us know the amount of your financial commitment as soon as possible, as the Vestry is beginning to plan the budget for the 2017-18 church year, and we need to know the amount of the gifts that you are planning to give to St. James.

Please take this important step as a member of our beloved parish and give generously to help maintain and grow the church and church family that we all love.  Please look for the new Stewardship envelopes in the pews with the "Love and Be Loved" theme on the outside.  We hope you will use these envelopes on a regular basis to place your gifts into the offering plate each Sunday, or as often as you feel moved to give to St. James.

Thank you for your generosity; St. James is truly blessed by your gifts.

Word for the Week ~ Thanksgiving

Think of at least five things to be thankful for - your health, your family, a roof over your head... Name them, and say thank you God. And before you know it, something has changed inside you.
