David Perrett, Oxbow Limestone. 2012, 6in x 11in
|
David Perrett is a Winnipeg based sculptor working primarily in stone. David works in a tactile manner, exploring the forms, patterns, and textures already present in his materials, creating sculptures that embody what he finds most remarkable in each stone. The sculptures evoke landscapes both real and imagined, using components of the original stones to blur the line between natural and fabricated form. "Oxbow" is part of an ongoing series of sculptures that use cartographic imagery and perforation of the stone to make lace-like works that exist outside the solid and heavy expectations associated with stone sculpture. David received his BFA from the University of Manitoba and has work in Private, Civic, and Corporate collections across North America and in Europe.
