Who Am I?
My place of birth is: The original St. Luke's Hospital which was located on Robinwood in the Old West End. It's now an arboretum!
My hobbies are:
I'm in a band, sing and play guitar, and we have released two CD's and two Christmas EP's.
The last good book I read was:
Miracles Happen by Richard Weiss
My oddest habit is:
Buying and saving too many cookbooks. 99% of the time I go online for a recipe!
Device I couldn't live without:
iPhone
My greatest accomplishment outside my profession: Without question, raising my two (now grown) children.
The reason I got into advertising/marketing: One of my first jobs was at The Toledo Museum of Art, where I ran a small printing press. I was inspired and immersed in the culturally rich, artistic environment and it led me to this great and wonderful industry.
Biggest influences on me professionally: My boss, Craig Roberts, and the talented creative community I work with in this town.
My greatest unfulfilled ambition is: to finish the book I've started writing.
When nobody's looking, I like to: talk to my dogs as if they understand every word! (They just might!)
The one thing I really want the world to know about me: I believe there are no limitations to dreaming and creating the life you visualize.
Best thing about being an AAF Toledo member: AAF has been a wonderful resource not only for networking and learning, but also for experiencing the creative energy that is present at so many group activities and events. I'm so grateful for being a part of this group since 1982!

Matt Rubin
2016-2017 AAF Toledo President |
AAF Toledo is excited to announce a big step forward for our organization:
Online event registration and payment is now live and available for all AAF Toledo events through aaftoledo.org/events!
The need to implement this program was identified and prioritized by the Board at our summer retreat and we're thrilled to celebrate achieving this goal with our membership today. The initiative was spearheaded by Melanie Dunn, Katelin Reinhart, and AAF Executive Director, Patty Schoepf with the assistance of Madhouse as our website design agency. We are grateful for their service, leadership, and can-do attitude. We think online registration and payment will increase the effectiveness of our online marketing efforts as well as allow our organization to better utilize our Executive Director's time and wonderful talents.
It's now easier than ever to reserve your spot at superb upcoming events like The Summit Show, AdHOLEinONE and our monthly luncheons. We invite all members to register for their next AAF Toledo event by visiting aaftoledo.org/events today!

|
The 29th annual Blade Holiday Parade, presented by Taylor Automotive Family, will step off at
10 a.m. in downtown Toledo. The parade will extend its route this year through the Warehouse District. It begins at the corner of North Summit and Jefferson streets, turning left onto Adams Street and making its way to Huron Street, going left to Lafayette Street, left again on St. Clair Street, and finishing at Monroe Street.
(
map of route)
The Otsego High School teen who starred on this summer's season of America's Got Talent will be the grand marshal for this year's Blade Holiday Parade on
Nov. 12.
Calysta Bevier, a cancer survivor from Grand Rapids who advanced to the semifinal round, will preside over the parade and then perform holiday songs at the Kris Kringle Village in Hensville Park immediately following the parade. There will also be lots of fun children's activities, food concessions, mascots, photo booth and vendors.
Caly Cares Foundation will be kicking off their Toy Drive which will give toys to Toledo Childrens Hospital. Bring a toy and enjoy some great entertainment.

How to Submit a Guest Blog Post to AAF Toledo
The ideal length for a post is between 850 and 1,000 words and must not have been previously published.
Come up with a great idea. To be considered, AAFTOL blog topics should be related to advertising, marketing and communications. Write something that you would want to read yourself.
Send a proposal. Send a brief proposal to
director@aaftoledo.org. Please do not send the full article. Keep it brief: a tentative headline; two or three sentences explaining what the blog will be about; and one sentence saying why you are qualified to write it. Based on this proposal AAFTOL will let you know within three business days whether to submit the article.
Write with the reader in mind. Writing for the web is different from writing for print. The best way to organize the piece is to start with a brief set-up that hooks the reader. Then organize the rest in segments.
Assume the reader is busy and has a short attention span. Short paragraphs and headings within the article make it easier to read.
Include a brief bio at the top. Your name; the name of your company (with a link to your website); and if you've written a book relevant to the article, the title of that book with a link to the Amazon page or to your website if the book is available for sale there. If you tweet, please indicate that, and include a link to your Twitter profile page.
Submit the completed article. Please submit your final version by pasting into the body of an e-mail, or attach it as a Microsoft word document. Your submission will be reviewed by AAFTOL editorial board. If we have any questions, comments or concerns, we will contact you.
What happens next? AAFTOL will acknowledge receipt of the blog within 24 hours, and let you know within a week whether it has been accepted for publication. If it is, AAFTOL reserves the right to edit the article, including changes in the text, subheads and headline, to improve readability and maximize web traffic.
