Farm School NYC Certificate Programs Returns
|
|
|
Farm School NYC’s certificate program is back after a two-year hiatus – our first course starts this week!
|
|
|
In fact, Farm School NYC now has two certificate programs, thanks to a three-year USDA Beginning Farmer and Rancher Development Program grant that we received this summer -- our regular Certificate in Urban Agriculture and our new Accelerated Certificate in Urban Agriculture in partnership with The Youth Farm. The Accelerated Certificate program was created in response to past students’ interest in doing their immersive apprenticeship at the same time as their core coursework, as opposed to waiting until the second year of the certificate program. This expedited and immersive 660-hour, season-long training program will allow highly motivated students to take:
- The Youth Farm’s 20+ hands-on workshops, refined over the last five years through the Youth Farm’s respected Urban Farm Training Program,
- Farm School NYC’s Food Justice, Botany, Training of Trainers and Seminar courses
- Additional workshops and gatherings.
Earlier this month at Orientation, we welcomed 12 students in the Accelerated Program and 25 in our regular program. Catch a quick glimpse of them here. You’ll meet them soon at the Winter Farmraiser on Monday, December 12 at 61 Local. Spread the word and be our guest!

Development Intern
- Six-month internship,15 hours weekly (2 days per week)
- Begins mid-September
- This position is unpaid, but can be applied towards school credit
- Researching prospective major donors
- Assist in editing grant proposals, reports, and stewardship pieces
- Maintain donor records and data hygiene in donor database

Editorial Intern

- Write and produce radio stories
- Transcribe interviews for scripts
- Curate Heritage Radio Network content through the web, written features and promotions
