Buddy Walk Notes

Thank you to everyone who attended Buddy Walk, participated in fundraising and volunteered. Totals and top fundraisers will be announced in the December Newsletter. Ripley's Aquarium
Saturday, December 9
Join us for DSAG day at Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies where you can enjoy a self-guided tour. The aquarium is open 9am-10pm on Saturday, December 9. One day admission tickets are $8 each (child or adult). Click the Register Now button to complete the form and register for this event. Tickets will be available for pick up outside of the aquarium on the day of the event from 9-11 am; after 11am you can pick them up at will call.

Littles and Lattes
Wednesday, November 8
DSAG is excited to offer a program for our preschool age group. Littles and Lattes is designed to be a playgroup type setting for children with Ds (ages birth to 6 years) and their parents. Feel free to bring your own latte or enjoy the provided coffee. Thank you to First Baptist Concord's Helping Hands Ministry for providing the space for us to meet.

NDSC Spotlight
Parent Webinar Available

Our DSAG board president and vice-president attended the 2017 NDSC Conference. They are excited to share some of the information with our DSAG members in early 2018.
NDSC is offering a webinar presented by Julie Harmon, Inclusion Coordinator at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (and NDSC Board member). This webinar will explore how the use of accommodations and modifications can be a key to meaningful participation in the general education classroom for students with disabilities.

The Intellectual Disabilities Communication Lab at
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is recruiting families for a research project to learn more about how language skills develop in children between the ages of 6 and 11 years who have Down syndrome.

UHCCF grants provide financial help/assistance for families with children that have medical needs not covered or not fully covered by their commercial health insurance plan. The Foundation aims to fill the gap between what medical services/items a child needs and what their commercial health benefit plan will pay for.
