Much is made of holiday eating and weight. We are cautioned to be wary of the former, for the extent to which we partake in it will surely influence the latter.
Such assumptions, though, are off base and reflect misunderstandings regarding the complexities of weight regulation in general and the influence that a relatively small amount of eating will have. Although it was years ago that I wrote the piece to which I just linked, the message is still very much true and worth remembering today.

Cooked Cranberry-Orange Relish
Recipe is courtesy of Karen Levy, who adapted it from the New York Times Cookbook.
