Communication is Key

Many Westminster parents want to stay involved in their student's lives, and that's where the Office of Parent Fund and Family Programs comes in. We seek to be a resource for families, allowing them to stay informed of events and opportunities on campus.
  1. Visit our website for calendar dates, events, resources, and much more! Be sure to fill out the parent contact form to make sure we can keep in touch with you.
  2. Read through our Parent eNewsletter (congrats, you're already one step ahead of the game) and view archived newsletters.
  3. Westminster Well Check - 18 Westminster staff contacted over 160 families of first-year students in October as a check-in on their student's well-being, to serve as a resource, and to encourage parents and families to plan to come to campus for Winter Weekend (February 19-22, 2015).
  4. Read Westminster's student-run newspaper The Forum!
  5. Letters from the President - President Brian Levin-Stankevich sends several letters to parents each year with his insights, thoughts, and plans.
  6. Read the Westminster Review, Westminster's biannual magazine sent to alumni, donors, parents, and friends of the college.
  7. Check out the latest news clips about Westminster College.

Thanksgiving Travels

Each holiday season the Dean of Students Office offers free shuttles to and from the SLC Airport! Because last year we ran out of space, a RSVP is required if your student wishes to use this service. Students can sign up in the Dean of Students Office. Students need to meet outside the office, in front of the Concierge Desk in Shaw, five minutes BEFORE the departure time. Don't be late!

  • Monday, November 24 at 2pm
  • Tuesday, November 25 at 2pm
  • Tuesday, November 25 at 4:30pm
  • Wednesday, November 26 at 9am
  • Wednesday, November 26 at 5pm

In the cases of getting picked up at the airport, students must also sign up in the Dean of Students Office and provide their cell phone number. The driver will then work with them directly about getting picked up in the "passenger pick-up" area.

May Term 2015

May Term is Westminster's intensive semester: a month of offbeat and inspiring classes, laid-back trips around Utah, and adventures outside of the U.S. After a year of hitting the books, May Term is a truly unique experience taking you outside of the classroom and leading you to discoveries about yourself and the world. And the best part is that tuition is free (you just pay the trip expenses.) Information about on-campus May Term and Summer classes will be available on Web Advisor in December, and registration for those classes begins in February.

Winter Weekend for Parents and Families
February 19-22, 2015

Make your plans now to come to campus for our signature family weekend, February 19-22, 2015. Expect lift ticket discounts at Snowbird, Alta, the Canyons, and Deer Valley. We'll have more specific details about activities on and off campus, events, and pricing soon, but you can begin your travel planning now! We know that if you want a full day at the resorts, you'll want to arrive Wednesday evening as the discounts will apply for Thursday-Sunday. There will be a welcome reception for parents on Thursday evening as well as home basketball games on Thursday and Saturday evenings; there will also be a Utah Jazz vs. Portland Trailblazers game on Friday evening. Check here for accommodations at hotels offering a Westminster rate. Watch here for the latest on events and activities as we nail them down.
Career Corner
From The Interview to Offer: Employer Timelines

If your student will be looking for a full-time position, it is important to begin the job search process as early as possible. As noted in the chart above, employers may take anywhere from 20-40 days following an interview before extending an employment offer.

Encourage your student to make an appointment with the Career Center at Westminster as soon as they return from break. We can help your student craft a cover letter, create a tailored resume, identify potential employers, and develop strong interview skills.
Parent Fund: Supporting the Westminster Community

Shortly you'll receive a letter in the mail asking you to consider making a gift to Westminster College this year if you haven't done so already. Westminster's Parent Fund raises immediate-use support for areas that directly impact the undergraduate experience, from advising and residential life to the arts and athletics. Your gift ensures that students continue to experience excellence in the educational and extracurricular opportunities that Westminster offers. Every gift from a Westminster parent strengthens the activities that take place both inside and outside the classroom during the transformative college years. You can designate your Parent Fund gift to any area of Westminster.

Give now to the Parent Fund.
