MOVING FORWARD ON BILL 122 
We are pleased to announce that on November 1st, with the unanimous consent of the legislature, sponsorship of Bill 122 was transferred to MPP Ted McMeekin . Mr. McMeekin is a Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier and a former Minister of Municipal Affairs & Housing, and a long-time friend of the planning profession. 

OPPI is excited to work with MPP McMeekin in the coming months to move forward Bill 122.

On November 1st, the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) announced the 2017 winners of the Excellence in Planning Awards at an event held at Queen's Park.
 
The Excellence in Planning Awards recognize innovation, creativity, professionalism, problem-solving, and communications in urban and community design, planning studies or reports, and public education. 2018 SCHOLARSHIPS - APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN!

Attention all Student Members! OPPI has three prestigious scholarships available in 2018.
In addition to the Ronald M. Keeble Undergraduate Scholarship and the Gerald Carrothers Graduate Scholarship, you can also apply for Andrea Bourrie 2018 Scholarship.
 
In recognition of Andrea Bourrie's term as President, the scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student in the field of planning for Community Engagement, Public Consultation and Strategic Initiatives.

NOVEMBER COUNCIL AGENDA

Later this month, OPPI Council Directors will meet in Toronto to focus on a new strategic agenda for the 2017-2018 year. This meeting is the first to include OPPI's newly acclaimed Council Directors . Here are the topic areas that will be discussed:
  • Generative discussion on member value
  • Review and adjustment of INSPIRE OPPI Strategic Plan 2020  
  • 2018 Strategic Priorities and Business Plan - the path ahead
  • Public policy and stakeholder engagement through a new lens
  • Leadership competencies for a high performance Board of Directors to better serve our membership
