NOVEMBER NEWS
October / 31 / 2016

Dear Family and Friends of Forest Hills,

Happy Halloween! Time to break out your costumes and stop by Forest Hills for a Halloween celebration this afternoon at 3:30pm in the lounge. In the meantime, be sure to read through this newsletter for a calendar of upcoming activities, the latest news on our dining room renovations, our September Ceca award winner and more.

I am pleased to report that the renovations on our dining rooms are moving forward with great progress. Due to the magnitude of this project--including beautiful custom cabinetry--the new dining rooms will not be available for occupancy until after the Thanksgiving Holiday. All residents will enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving Day feast, but unfortunately we will be unable to accommodate any additional friends or family members. As always, residents may wish to celebrate Thanksgiving Day off-site with family and friends. Our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause, but we look forward to enjoying Christmas and New Years with you in our beautiful new dining halls!

In other exciting news, the Forest Hills' Health Care Center has (once again) received a 5-star overall rating per our 2016 CMS survey. It's always nice to have our quality staff and services recognized -- particularly by the government!

We hope to see you around some time soon,

Ceca Award Winner
Lydie Brino

Last month we celebrated the Ceca Award winner for September 2016: congratulations to Lydie Brino! People shared some stories and kind words about Lydie:

"We all can understand the stress associated with meal times. Kitchen staff are one of the hardest workers if not THE hardiest workers in our organization. Remembering meal preferences, resident centered table set ups, and most of all good food, Lydie has demonstrated excellent customer service. Her ability to juggle all these responsibilities and roles and still having time to engage in playful banter with a resident who can be difficult was enlightening to watch. This resident does not frequently engage with many staff, or even in a positive manner. When she saw Lydie she lit up, smiling ear to ear and shouted 'Hi darling!'. They then exchanged in "Miss America" waves back and forth and Lydie served the resident. Heart warming moment to see this resident engage so willingly and lovingly with Lydie."
