Ann Weber in Two News Shows

The Long Beach Museum of Art
Moon Over San Pedro
November 10, 2017 – February 4, 2018
Ann Weber’s large biomorphic sculptures have been described as bizarre characters from a story, hanging on the wall or sitting in the middle of the gallery like strange and evocative outcroppings of nature or outer space.Named after a wall-mounted sculpture, the exhibition features Weber’s most recent works, created after moving to San Pedro from the Bay area in 2015.

Ann Weber transforms found boxes from the ordinary into art. She cuts and weaves cardboard contorting its form. Weber explores the little quirks that keep relationships from being a perfect fit. Her work echoes intimate bodies in imperfect balance.

HOT FLAT
Opening Reception
November 11th
5 to 9pm
“Hot Flat” at presents new work by Michael Cataldi, Abigail Collins, Gelare Khoshgozaran, Fleurette West, and Richard Wheeler , each of whom engage modes of sensorial flux between bodies and structures that impel their displacements and direct their lines of sight. Reassessing the environs of AGCC, which include a cluster of 1940s-era Army barracks, defunct gun emplacements, and bunker ruins around Angels Gate Park these artists’ works locate potentialities between imposed architectural or geopolitical lines of demarcation and entropic forces that undermine them. Curated by Jeanne Dreskin and Santi Vernetti .

Continuing in our galleries is Coastal/Border , an exhibition of original site-responsive performance and installation work featuring Mecca Vazie Andrews, Edgar Fabian Frias, Sebastian Hernandez, Dany Naierman, Paul Pescador and Jimena Sarno curated by Raquel Gutiérrez and Martabel Wasserman .

The exhibition closes December 17th with installation activation FTZ by Sebastian Hernandez starting at 1pm.
