This Export Documentation seminar will provide a real life, comprehensive understanding of the commercial documentation required for an international transaction. The U.S. is experiencing trade growth and regulatory changes with regards to Free Trade and Tariff Preferences Programs. The number of U.S. Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) continues to grow. NEPA Alliance Annual Report

NEPA Alliance is pleased to announce the release of our Fiscal Year 2015-2016 Annual Report.
The report contains many of our challenges and accomplishments. The pages chronicle the services that we provide to Business, Community and Government in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne Counties.
Thank you to all of our volunteer Board Members and Committee Members for their service and dedication to making Northeastern Pennsylvania a great place to live, work and play.

Greater Pike County Community Foundation

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Nonprofit & Community Assistance Center (NCAC) presented a check to the newly-formed Greater Pike County Community Foundation. The event was held at the Fauchère Meeting Center, Milford, PA.
The Greater Pike County Community Foundation provided an overview of their mission including the programs and grants they offer to eligible nonprofit organizations within the county.
NCAC, through its affiliate the Northeastern Pennsylvania Alliance, was awarded an Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) Area Development Grant for NCAC's Community Foundation Initiative. NCAC, in collaboration with the NEPA Grantmakers Forum, will provide funding and technical assistance for the start-up of a community foundation in both Carbon and Pike Counties.
A total of $32,000 in funding was awarded to the Greater Pike County Community Foundation to serve as the catalyst for the growth and expansion of the foundation. NCAC will assist with identifying best practices for community foundations, offering workshops on grant seeking and grant writing, and coordinating educational training for professional advisors.

Writing a proposal is similar to but not exactly the same as crafting a persuasive essay or producing a report. The Workshop will provide guidance and advice to companies seeking to improve their likelihood of award. When it comes to government contract proposal writing, Dr. W. Nick Cline will provide guidance with management approaches, technical proposals, past performance, and simply showing attendees strategies and tips on how to write a winning proposal.

Dr. W. Nick Cline is the President, CEO, and owner of Hummingbird Solutions, LLC in Springfield, Virginia. Hummingbird Solutions was founded in 2010 to support, train, and assist small business owners with Accounting, Taxation, Capability Maturity Model Integration, Information Technology, and other business needs. Dr. Nick has worked in the private, public, educational, and health care systems after retiring from the United States Army Finance & Accounting Corps. NEPA Alliance has several loan products available for small businesses in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne Counties.
These low cost, low interest loans offer reduced down payments and standard loan term maturities for machinery and equipment, land and building acquisition, construction and renovation. Loan rates are fixed and generally below the prime lending rate.
Eligible businesses include Manufacturers, Industrial, Agriculture/Agribusiness, Hospitality & Tourism Related Enterprises, Recyclers, Day Care, Computer Related Services, Advanced Technology, and Retail and Service Related Businesses. Other business sectors may also qualify.
NEPA Alliance Business Finance Corporation has Small Business Administration (SBA) 504 loans available for eligible small businesses in Carbon, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Schuylkill and Wayne Counties.
Financing Structure
A bank or other lender finances 50% of the project cost and takes a first lien position on the assets financed. The SBA 504 loan finances 40% of the project cost up to $5.5 million and takes a second lien position. The borrower then contributes a down payment of as little as 10%.

PennDOT Multimodal Transportation Fund Grant Program - Now Open!
|
PennDOT is currently accepting applications for funding through the Multimodal Transportation Fund for 2017-2018. Applications are due by December 16, 2016. Funding can be used to coordinate local land use with transportation assets to enhance existing communities; for projects related to streetscapes, lighting, sidewalk enhancement and pedestrian safety; for projects improving connectivity or utilization of existing transportation assets; and for projects related to transit-oriented development. Municipalities, counties, school districts, economic development organizations, public transportation agencies, ports, rail freight and passenger rail entities are eligible to apply. A local match of 30% is required. More information can be found on the
