Join us for a special after-hours concert with Paul Speidel's Jazz Duo. This performance will feature well-known jazz and blues classics, with a little music history thrown in for good measure!  

Sunday, November 5 at 1:30 pm
Strut your baking skills at our Annual Apple Pie Contest! Judging begins at 1:30 pm and the public is invited to feast on apple pie, donuts, and apple cider at 2 pm. You do not have to enter the contest to attend! Presented by the Friends of the Library. Contestants: please register online.

Guest speaker Jennifer Koerber returns to teach the basics of finding items in online stores and keeping your pers onal information safe. Discover what to do before you buy, how to evaluate a site for safety, and what some best bets are for shopping online.

Major internal conflict has plagued Afghanistan for four decades. Today, war with the Taliban persists, and tensions betw een the U.S. and Pakistan have gradually deteriorated. Presented by expert Keith West.

Paula Castner will share her extensive knowledge and recipes for turning some of your favorite baked goods into healthier alternatives. No cooking, but samples and handouts of the recipes will be provided. Just in time for Holiday baking!

UMASS Lowell graduate Rebecca Dolan invites you to a reception for her collection of works on display in the library. Light refreshments and beverages will be provided.

The Library will be closing at 5 pm on Wednesday, November 22 and will reopen on Friday, November 24 at 9:30 am.

Get your science fix with a discussion about Radiometric Dating, a method used to determine the ages of geologic events and materials. Dr. Richard Gaschnig, an assistant professor at UMASS Lowell, will be our expert in attendance.

Make it! Club: Element Jars 
Welcome to The MIC (Make It! Club), where you'll be able to make and take home an awesome DIY project, snack, or dessert each month. This month's project: Element Jar necklaces and key chains. Drop in while supplies last. Grades 4-8 and home school teens welcome!

The Children's Department would like to thank everyone who submitted spooky stories for our contest. You all did a great job scaring our Children's Librarians! Don't forget to pick up your prize - everyone who submitted a story gets a goodie bag, so stop by the children's desk for yours.
 
Our annual Gingerbread Festival is going to be on Saturday, December 2. Join us for this fun winter family event where we'll decorate gingerbread cookies, play games, and make crafts! This is a drop-in event for all ages: come anytime between 10:30am and noon!

Read "How the Turkey Got Its Spots," do an activity, and create a craft. Drop-in for kids 6-8 years.

Each month features a different craft for children to make and take home. Drop-in for kids in grades K-2.
