| Style Tip: How to Dress For Your Body Type - Part 3 |
In the last two newsletters, I revealed the top tips for dressing for a b body type and o body type. Check those out in case either of them pertains to you!
 One of the main goals of dressing for your body type is to balance your silhouette. This is especially important for the d body type. If your shoulders are narrower than your hips and you tend to gain weight in your hips, thighs and derriere, then you are a d body type. Your main goal is to draw attention upward and counterbalance your hips to create a long, lean line. Here are a few tips for how to achieve this:
Tops:
Your main goal is to visually widen your shoulders by wearing boat neck or scoop necklines, collared shirts, horizontal stripes or all-over patterns. Accessorize with bold round necklaces, earrings or infinity scarves. Avoid tops that fall at the widest part of your hips/thighs. Longer, tunic tops or cardigans that float past this area will balance and flatter your body shape.
 Bottoms:
Bottoms are probably your least favourite thing to shop for! But don't despair, there is hope. Always choose trousers that fit your hips first, then if possible, find a tailor to take in the waist. If this isn't an option, try Flatter:Me belts available at KC's Boutique to create a perfectly flat fit. Low-rise trousers and jeans with a slight flare will balance your hips beautifully. Aim for larger pockets without flaps and minimal design to minimize your booty.
Bonus Tip:
Be careful of drastic colour changes between your tops and bottoms as this draws attention to your hips. Instead, wear a similar shade trouser and jacket or cardigan with a pop colour or patterned top for a slimming and balanced look.
Dresses:
Your most flattering styles will accentuate your waistline and float gently past your thighs. Wide necklines, collars and patterns on the upper half along with A-line or flared skirts will create a flattering balanced silhouette.
