Volunteer Spotlight

Name: Doreen Goldberg
Occupation: Retired
Time with JFS: 3.5 Years
Volunteer Position: Food Pantry Assistant

Doreen volunteers weekly with JFS' Lucy and Joe's Food Pantry. She picks up items from Whole Foods or other locations that donate weekly as well as shops for food supplies at different grocery stores.  She started with JFS because she wanted to do something in her retirement that would be beneficial to someone else. When asked what she likes about volunteering, she said she likes to be helpful, likes to shop, and likes to be organized.  She finds it interesting to shop for a diversity of foods and seeing what our diverse group of clients from various different countries like to eat. In her free time she likes to read - participating in multiple book clubs, likes to play Mahjong and cook.

Doreen has been a tremendous help to JFS by keeping our pantry fully operational. JFS serve's 43 families every month out of the pantry!  We couldn't do it without her help, thanks Doreen!!!
New Volunteer Database - Volgistics

JFS has recently upgraded to a new volunteer database thanks to a generous donation to the volunteer program!  The new system allows us to streamline our volunteer program, store volunteer information in a central location, and track volunteer hours to see the impact our volunteers are making in the community.  In October we had over 200 service hours by over 35 volunteers!

In switching to this new system, you will each have your own online account using your e-mail address.  You will be receiving a separate e-mail that contains your password. You can login via our website by going to the Volunteer at JFS page and choosing the link on the left hand side that says Volunteer Login.  With your e-mail address and password, you will be able to login to your account and view your schedule, check your hours, add in service hours, and update contact information. Click on the video below to view a tutorial on how to use it.

T-Shirts!
JFS T-Shirts are in!  To celebrate our volunteers, we have made t-shirts for those of you who have volunteered for over 20 hours!  If you have hit that milestone let me know and you can come into the office to pick up your shirt!  If you haven't made it there yet, keep on volunteering and you'll get there soon enough.
