Novi offers free services to help businesses succeed
Walk-in Thursdays, Business Blender & B.A.T. just to name a few

L ooking to start a new business or need some help rejuvenating an existing one? The City of Novi (and it's partners from around the area) are here to help.

The City has several resources available to small business owners, starting with the new  Walk-in/Startup Small Business Counseling  at the Novi Civic Center.

This program, which is offered from 9:30-noon and 1:30-4:30pm the first Thursday of each month, provides new or potential business owners with one-on-one advice from an experienced business consultant. The next session is scheduled for November 3.

Walk-in sessions are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Each session is limited to 15 minutes. Sessions take place at the Community Development Center Room, 45175 Ten Mile Road. The next

Another useful tool for small to medium-sized businesses is the quarterly Business Blender. This event provides a great opportunity for business owners to meet like-minded people while also learning valuable information about the services available to them in the area. Nearly 100 people attended the most recent networking event in September.

Finally, there is the newly refreshed Business Assistance Team, a group made up of representatives from the City, Chamber, Oakland County Business Center, Small Business Development Center and financial institutions.

Crews working around the clock to finish Crescent
First stage of construction should be completed by mid-October

Progress is being made on Crescent Boulevard, with the first stage of construction set to be completed in the coming weeks.

Businesses inside Novi Town Center remain open and accessible as crews  are currently working on the eastbound lanes. The contractor is completing the curb and gutter stone base for the eastbound portion of Crescent this week and hopes to start paving the first course of asphalt early next week.

Patrons visiting the businesses south of Crescent are encouraged to do so by using either Crowe Drive from Novi Road or Town Center Drive from Grand River Avenue.  For visitors to Doubletree Hotel and the four restaurants on the north side of Crescent Boulevard (Famous Dave's, Olive Garden, Red Robin and TGI Friday's), access will be provided only from Novi Road using Crescent Boulevard.

Eastbound Crescent is only allowing one-way traffic from Novi Road. The exit is now east on Crescent, to south on Town Center, to west on Grand River, to north on Novi Road.

This first stage of construction should be completed by the end of October, with the entire project being substantially complete by November 1, depending on the weather.

City encouraging businesses to Go Pink for Breast Cancer Awareness

The City of Novi has gone pink for the month of October and we want our business partners to do the same.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and in an effort to raise awareness, honor survivors and remember those who lost their lives to the disease, Novi partnered with St. John Providence on a Pink Door Campaign.

The Civic Center and police department doors feature pink ribbons and our employees are wearing pink on Fridays.

We want to see what you are doing at your business to Go Pink! Share your photos with us on social media #PinkNovi or email them to us at novibusiness@cityofnovi.org.
