Our 2018 focus will be on upgrading technology, and in turn looking forward to the efficiency these improvements will provide in the future.

To deepen our capacity for planning and execution, we are strengthening our overall capabilities as part of our commitment to continuous improvement.  Specifically, we have transitioned to Procore and Revit software programs, implementing the latest versions; expanded our workforce; and all of our project managers are ASHE trained and certified.  As part of our lean implementation, we have reviewed our policies and procedures, are in the process of upgrading our technology and are continuing to focus on employee education.  This strategy is essential to ensure that our team is well trained and has the proper resources so projects are well planned and run smoothly.

In closing, I want to thank of all our consultants, sub-contractors, clients, vendors and mostly our employees for making 2017 another great year for O, R&L Construction.

Best regards,

The Bridgeport Microgrid project is coming to a close. To celebrate this milestone, we will be sponsoring an "Early Morning Learning Series" event followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony. O,R&L Featured in Blueprint Magazine Special Article

In December of 2017, O,R&L Construction was featured in an article by internet construction magazine, Blueprint Magazine.

The article touched upon a few of our recently completed projects and shed some light on how each of these projects are beneficial to not only the owners but also to the communities who will benefit from these projects.

Planning for 2018 and Beyond

On January 29th, the O,R&L Leadership Team had their annual Strategic Planning Meeting. The purpose of this meeting is to review our past year's business strategy and goals, create a new plan for the company and to have an open discussion among the leadership team.

This year, Bob Albright, an O,R&L Board Adviser and Professor at the University of New Haven led our day-long discussion at the Omni Hotel in New Haven. The meeting proved to be a fruitful one. With Bob's leadership and team-building activities, the O,R&L team left the Omni with a concise set of goals to focus on for the 2018 year that will grow O,R&L as not only a phenomenal firm to do with business with - but also a phenomenal place to be an employee of.
O,R&L Employee Exemplifies Mantra "Constructing a Sustainable Future"

At O,R&L, "Constructing a Sustainable Future" is a term you hear often in the office and on our job sites. One employee, however, took that mantra a step further over the holiday season.

Bob Lewis, Assistant Superintendent at our Branford Self Storage project, saw that there was an abundance of leftover wood pallets at the job site. The project was nearly completed and the wood was taking up three 10x15 storage units. Bob thought this brother in law could use the wood at his campsite but there was still so much wood leftover that Bob had another idea.

"I started thinking, since my son needed a shed at his house, why can't I use some of it? I had made several trips back and forth to get the scrap off the site and with my son's help, we separated and took a part all the pallets and crates... all of that scrap wood would have been thrown away into two 40 yard dumpsters. With minimal investment on pressure treated wood for the floor and some actual good plywood for the roof sheathing, the rest of the framing was made out of the scraps from the job site."

Great job, Bob!

O,R&L Employees Volunteer at the Fantasy of Lights

Every December for the past decade or so, O,R&L employees have volunteered their time at the Fantasy of Lights at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven.

The weather was in single digits on the coastline but our volunteers still managed to have a great time. We had 201 vehicles come through and sold 205 pairs of 3D glasses!

Once the night was over, our employees said they are already excited to volunteer next year!

Do you have a small, complex project you want to complete but have no idea  where to start?
