Over 200 Community Action professionals, partners, exhibitors, and trainers joined us last week in Dayton, Ohio for the 2018 Annual Summer Conference,

, and we're glad that they did. Together we enjoyed another great lineup of featured speakers and training workshops geared directly toward the Community Action Network. Five tracks including Leadership, Housing, Energy, Fiscal/HR, and Data gave opportunities for members and guests to learn what they have requested through previous evaluations and surveys.

| Gwen Robinson, CEO in Hamilton County, announces retirement after two decades of service |
OACAA extends our sincere gratitude to Ms. Gwen Robinson for 23 years of dedicated service to Community Action.

"I came here 23 years ago with a vision and I can leave knowing that I have seen that vision through successfully," Robinson said in a news release. "I am truly proud of what has been achieved and I leave knowing that I helped to build a stable foundation that will allow the good work to continue."
The CAA has had a strong influence in enabling children and families to thrive in Cincinnati through early childhood education, career training programs, utility assistance, comprehensive case management, re-entry assistance and entrepreneurial coaching

| CAC receives $75,000 grant to fight opioid epidemic |
CAC of Fayette County was one of 70 organizations to be selected for this competitive grant program throughout Ohio, Tennessee, Kentucky and West Virginia.
"The Community-Level Response grant will support our efforts to reduce the availability and misuse of prescription opiates through education, multi-sector collaboration, expanding drug take back efforts, and addressing the root causes of the availability issue" said Tiffany Garrison, prevention coordinator.
With this grant, the coalition said it will be impacted in several ways. This includes an increase to the number of drug take back events, the ability to provide funding to promote these take back events, the opportunity to expand opioid prevention education, and they will be able to work with local physicians to identify ways to decrease the supply of opiates

| Library card wields more power after $2M deal |

LAWRENCE COUNTY -
About 2,000 people come through
Lawrence County's one-stop shop a month, often looking for basic training and skills. But Youth Coordinator Jonathan Abner said the new partnership will provide more in depth course offerings in career fields like information technology which aren't as readily accessible now.
"Just think the amount of individuals who don't know about the center or are they looking for something they can do from their own home," Abner said.
It will be there for people like Hensley willing to work hard to turn their dream into reality, one keystroke at a time

Patricia "Patty" Minto joined the Community Action mission 50 years ago and has served as the Chief Finance Officer at Jefferson County Community Action Council since 1973. She is responsible for all accounting, payroll, and data processing operations at the agency. She has maintained clean audit reports throughout her tenure and has never had a financial finding...
