Effective grant writing
By: Josh Summer
Development Director

Grant writing is the process of requesting funds from various sources, typically through a competition that requires submission of an application or proposal. Nonprofit organizations rely on this form of fundraising to support programs, agency operations or other financial needs. Grants are especially popular because they are considered "free money" by many in the industry, which leads some to believe grants will solve problems. If an organization had a great grant writer who was successful in bringing in additional funds, wouldn't that increase the organization's viability?   Read more

SUCCESS STORIES
Got stories?
What's happening with your summer Head Start program? Has your agency recently completed a large community project? What about a small project? Has a customer reconnected with you to provide an update on their successes? Do you have a customer who would like to share their story (anonymously or not)?

A success in Community Action does not necessarily look the same at every agency; it can include a customer success, an agency program, or even a new partnership. Because each agency is different, collecting our network's unique stories is imperative to tell our unique story effectively. Help Community Action stand out from the crowd by submitting your stories, and help OACAA reach our goal of collecting at least one story from each of Ohio's 88 counties!

There is no format or photo requirement to submit your story; we only ask that you provide a copy of a photo release when submitting a photo. Don't have time to write a story? Just call or email Kathryn and she can help!

Everyone's road to success is special, and each Community Action Agency's path to help customers reach self-sufficiency is different. Together, we can illustrate how our network helps people and changes lives.
