 Sir Simon Rattle returns...
Yes, our Principal Artist, Sir Simon Rattle, returns to us this June for an extensive European tour that culminates in two concerts at London's Royal Festival Hall on 10 June.
We'll be exploring repertoire new to the OAE, including Debussy's La mer and Ravel's Piano Concerto in D for the Left Hand - with soloist Pierre-Laurent Aimard making his OAE debut. It's an incredibly rare opportunity to hear this music performed on period instruments, with all the new colours and textures they can reveal.
We're very excited that after the 7pm concert at the Royal Festival Hall Sir Simon will be joining us for his first ever Night Shift appearance - details below.

Go behind the scenes on tour with the OAE, Sir Simon Rattle and the Labeque Sisters

This time last year we were again on tour with Sir Simon, visiting Luxembourg, Paris, Dublin and London. In this new video, just released, you can go behind the scenes as the OAE hits the road. The video includes backstage and rehearsal footage, interviews with OAE players and with the Labeque Sisters themselves.

Sir Simon conducts at The Night Shift
 The Night Shift is our highly popular late-night series, which presents great music in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.
We're thrilled that Sir Simon is to make his debut at the 10 June event, at 10pm in the Royal Festival Hall.
He'll be conducting the two pieces by Debussy from the earlier concert, Prélude à L'après-midi d'un faune and La mer, and will be joined on stage by presenter Alistair Appleton who will be talking to him, and OAE musicians about the music and instruments.
There's music in the bar from 9pm and DJ afterwards, and as usual drinks are welcome in the hall.
